Good luck - our election last year produced a government of incompetent wasters, determined to enrich the well off, stuff everyone else, and destroy our environment with it. I won't mention scrapping anti smoking measures to preserve the revenue from tobacco taxes so taxes on the rich can be cut...

Ah Well then we await the decartoonism (as opposed to the defenestration) of the Rank Bajin!

I'm already bored with the election excitement that the media are trying to generate. The only point of interest is the news that nice Mr. Farage says he will not be standing.
Although I'm sympathetic to the government's unexpected (and never planned for) problems caused by Covid-19, I am not sympathetic to the way Boris and his friends then ignored the instructions they were giving to everybody else. A chance to look responsible and efficient was wasted, but I suspect that Labour might not have managed things differently, but probably not any better.
Brexit remains, of course, probably the Conservative Party's biggest 'own goal' since Suez (no doubt members here can offer other suggestions).

I'm with those lovely ladies I saw on the news last night - they were already fed up with it!
Lots of public interviews asking what the person wanted from the Govt. Not one mentioned the single thing that I want - competence.

Mick To be fair if we are guaranteed a government which will seek to remove/weaken our rights and public services, incompetence can be a blessing!

I'm with those lovely ladies I saw on the news last night - they were already fed up with it! Lots of public interviews asking what the person wanted from the Govt. Not one mentioned the single thing that I want - competence. Mick One need only read threads on another photographic forum to realise that many people believe that what they want will satisfy everybody else. We know that isn't true and rarely discuss wants and desires around cameras. We just get on with using whatever we are comfortable with. The same is true with politics, except possibly, the desire for a competent government. Unfortunately, as with cameras, most of the options are competent in some areas and rather less so in others. Unlike cameras, politicians don't iterate so the incompetences aren't reduced/eliminated with each new release.
I'd like a government that had a health team with experience of running a health system successfully A defence team that had some experience in procurement and recruitment as well as an understanding of what they are defending against. A finance team that has experience in spending their own money wisely and will do the same public money. The list goes on.
It is regrettable that politicians are rarely given jobs for which they have any qualifications, indeed some of the best qualified have more sense than to stand for election. At least in a democracy we get the opportunity to change our representatives on a regular basis, the process may be deeply flawed but it is better than the alternatives.
