I remember the Rusty Bike in the 1990s when it was a Firkin pub. Was in there once when a massive fight broke out, tables and chairs flying around, bottles and glasses thrown, general mayhem. Remembering the Firkin pubs had very big and heavy wooden tables and chairs will give you some idea how bad a fight it was.
I think going back even further there was a mad old cinema across the road. That wasn't much better behaved.

Chicken shawarma wraps. Didn't have all the recipe's marinade ingredients so swapped a couple out (only had Harrissa powder, not raw el hanout, and couldn't be arsed grinding the cumin seeds, also didn't have any sweet paprika, only smoked) - declared delicious and will do again.

I remember the Rusty Bike in the 1990s when it was a Firkin pub. I think going back even further there was a mad old cinema across the road. That wasn't much better behaved. Before that it was called The Horn of Plenty- such a famously rough dive they had CCTV in the loos! A colleague where I worked at the time (the most important member of staff-the tea lady!) her grandson was shot dead leaving there after an argument over whose turn it was to play pool next The mad cinema was an Odeon that was used as part of the Sundown chain of venues back in the 70's.Can't vouch for the sanituy level as I never went there but Hawkwind played there

Freezer lucky dip yielded chicken breasts and next to them was a pack of hoisin duck spring rolls and I happened to be passing a local shop today that sells Mayflower Chinese curry sauce so I grabbed a pack of microwavable special fried rice
So right now the chicken (chopped up), mushrooms, onions and peas are simmering in the sauce
So instead of having anything to follow I am starting with hoisin duck spring rolls (lightly topped (Who am I trying to kid here?)) with hoisin sauce followed by Chinese style chicken curry with special fried rice (that won't be a patch on the real thing but it'll be soaked in curry sauce anyway)

Roasting some butternut and carrots, no parsnips unfortunately as Morrisons was out of them when I went shopping. Sliced chorizo for a bit of interest.

Lamb vindaloo, rice and naan. Was supposed to be fish and chips but found that I had picked up battered haddock which needs defrosting instead of breaded haddock which can be done from frozen. Gah stupid.

Rest of the chicken curry as usual a night marinading in the sauce meant it tasted even better today Followed with a couple of satsumas
