Got lucky in Asda tonight and got a decent sized beef rump steak for a quid, big enough I cut it in half and tonight I fried one half of it with mushrooms and onions and served it with triple cooked chips and garden peas
It is being washed down with a selection of decent IPA's from the "Thirst Aid" box my niece got me for my birthday and sweet chili crisps
Made a nice change

I do not recommend the Co-op Italian menu pasta filled tortellino. From the texture iin eating it and the after effects, I suspect polyfilla has been added to the flour. Not to be repeated purchase.

I don't like many of the shop bought filled pasta things. They all feel wrong in the mouth. The exception was some I bought from Lidl (in Spain). They were really nice, but I'm buggered if I can remember what the filling was, lol.

Homemade teryaki chicken skewers, not put onto skewers but tossed in the rice/noodle mix I made because there wasn't enough of either one to feed us both. Somehow it all expanded in the tossing and I'm now eating the leftovers for lunch. There's enough rice left to do egg fried rice (and noodles) tomorrow. I had planned to roast a gammon joint for dinner tonight but I have a last minute photoshoot of 'battered cod patties' to do so we'll be eating those with chips and not mushy peas, bit of salad. I'll roast the gammon, cube it up and stir it into the egg fried rice with some frozen peas and corn so it should taste like the 'risotto' that they used to serve up at my school in the 80s which in no way resembled any risotto ever made but was nonetheless a firm favourite. Expect various ham related meals for the two days after as well.

Morrisons slow cooked beef brisket joint with roasted butternut, parsnips, and carrots. Mince pie and rum sauce for pud. Almost a dry run for crimbo.
