And my appearance fee is How much? Based on past observances reported in media, or via HMRC rules which nobody cited? We need to know.

Only definitive answer is from the employers' accounts department. If their answer is not what is wanted then the obvious options are a) suck it up, b) raise a grievance, c) take legal action. My personal advice would be (a).
Sorry Willien I just can't resist - how much do you want for that advice?
Honestly no offence intended - you have made me laugh and I'm genuinely grateful.
Mick
The only thing I would really want is world peace. But given the tax bill would cripple me...were good.

Anyone following the story of the possibly non-existent Reform candidates? Would be terrible if Farage got done for electoral fraud eh? I don't know if anybody standing in an election has to prove their mental capacity, so would it be possible for them to be merely mentally non-existent?

Personally I don’t give a fig, she was there as supportive wife. I don’t care about who pays for her ticket and I find the whole debate to be petty and infantile but it gives those who enjoy moaning something to do. Are you currently a taxpayer? If not, it's easy to be unconcerned about needless expenditure like this. Also, I thought she had a job and career of her own, so did she get paid leave?

And the emotional cost-benefit analysis.
Isn't that between her and her employer? Heck, she may even be on a sabbatical for the duration. Who knows?

She's not an ordinary private citizen anymore, so if taxpayers are expected to pay for her travel or the NHS (her employer) is granting paid leave, they have a right to know. The NHS probably needs her far more than her husband whilst he is on trips abroad.

Does not appear to be a requirement to even physically exist.

Nige's cartoon reminds that Micky Mouse was originally called Steamboat Willie. Apparently there are exercises and medication to help with that condition...

Finally got around to doing my quick and dirty look at seats vs should-have seats (assumes a party list system of PR):
GE-2024 by SteveH, on Flickr Lots of rounding errors as I only looked at those that got more than 5,000 votes - about a third of the total. Raw data from here, the .PDF file.
One thing it does show is that if you can field loads of candidates, ie you have loads of money, you can get enough votes to get several seats.
I hope Farage never does a similar 'analysis', do we really want him on the side of PR?

Good work, Steve. However, I think that ship [bold highlight] has sailed, as Reform have already called for PR (before the GE).
Not a movement with which (most) PR supporters want to be associated - I quite agree.
