Think I'll put a bet on my Council (CNES, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar) of being the very last to declare our results. Do you think I'll be chastised for insider information? Or does everyone know just how pathetic a Council it is? Hmm

In my day in the Council, we were epic fast at counting the votes on the night. The helicopter brought the ballot boxes from the lower isles and to be honest, the slowest were those sorting the postal voting papers. The rest of us were bank tellers and us from accountancy, in the main. But you are right - we were usually the slowest in the end.

The question I would have like to have asked is "will you put concience before party and, if not why not?" You might have to explain the meaning of 'conscience' because it's probably a word they have never used and do not understand. My wife and I have already posted our voting slips, so the Conservative and Green bumph that arrived today must be aimed at the 'undecided' voters. We live in one of the allegedly safe Conservative seats (15,000 plus majority last time), and our MP claims to be responsible for every good thing that's happened locally and avoids any mention of things that are much less impressive.

Our MP, as far as I can tell, doesn't claim to have achieved anything. Much like every other SNP MP I expect.

My MP has put a leaflet out about local issues. It would be quite good for a county counsellor hoping to to keep a council seat. She is Tory and Tories are a broad church. I have no idea where she is on that broad spectrum so I assume the worse.

Or does everyone know just how pathetic a Council it is? Hmm I think that you would lose unless there is a recount. I'd bet on between 03:00 and 03:30 BST.

Reports that Labour are standing down their black candidate in Clacton. This may or may not be because he's not racist enough to represent Keir's recently aired hated of Bangladeshis.
