Nothing from anyone. Angry dog helps.I think the local Tory activists have either died of old age, or remembered what I called him when they went door-to-door campaigning for the P&CC election during a covid lockdown.

Lib dems three Tories one Nowt from anyone else yet Same here, though I think I've had more Liberal bumf through the box than you... Can't remember the last time I saw a Labour leaflet for a general election - local elections yes, general rarely if ever - they come such a distant third after the Conservative & Liberal candidates that maybe they don't bother anymore.

Only stuff we’ve had is from Labour, although there 7 other candidates. It’s a different constituency due to boundary changes which seems to have replaced strong Tory areas with more Labour inclined parts. And now we have received three pieces of fiction in the post, two from the Tories and another from Labour.

Interesting experience yesterday, the church had a hustings, I was doing sound so I had to stay awake. One question concerned sewage spillage into rivers. Now, to be clear, this was in a neighbouring constituency so I don’t get to vote for any of them. There are five candidates, Lib Dem, Labour, Green, Reform and Conservative, the Green candidate was well informed on the geography, Lib dem, Labour and Reform expressed an intent, if elected to do some about it and the Conservative pointed out that the government had, over the course of the parliament, qualified the scale of the problem and introduced some legislation.
What none of the candidates managed to do was to tell the truth that, without major engineering works to separate foul drainage from storm (rain water) drainage, there is absolutely nothing that can be done quickly. Even a major upgrade of the drainage and sewage systems would take many years. Only the Conservative even mentioned the new sewer under London that will actually make a difference. Four of the five were making promises they will be unable to full fill. I don’t know what their answers did in terms of impressing the attendant voters but I still think I prefer an independent.

DRoss has now said if the Tories win the election they will reduce Edinburgh's homelessness. Fortunately it is a devolved matter not Westminster as he probably thinks he can send Edinburgh's homeless to Rwanda. I sometimes wonder what medication he is on.

You're right about the sewers in older developments which includes all city and town centres. Many later developments have separate foul and surface water sewers but most discharge rapidly into streams and rivers thus causing flooding. Only in the last 20 odd years do we have measures in place to slow the flow of storm water. Politicians are equally ignorant, or possibly lying, on the costs of zero carbon.

Brilliant. I'd love to know if his Party members were betting on the date of the election, the result or his chances of being Party leader afterwards.

I like to apply the following test to any candidate: would you buy a used car from this person? Not surprisingly, most fail.

The question I would have like to have asked is "will you put concience before party and, if not why not?"

Today leaflets from Tories and Labour. The Tory one was personally addressed. Our Tory, whom I have met, is a decent enough person and has engaged with issues that were rightfully county council or borough council issues. I do not know her 'right-nous'. I have no idea if she is a Tory wet or Tory hard liner. I have decided to ask her. Hopefully I might get an answer.
