Put the bins out for tommorow's collection an hour or two back and there was already quite a frost on the cars parked in the road. Weather apps suggest that it's already -3 C outside. I took the hosepipe off the outside tap and covered the tap with the little insulated cover thing I bought a few years back.

It has been trying to snow on and off all day. We now have snow, but luckily not heavy.

Had a brief fall of snow a few minutes ago, stopped now but I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.

I fear for the temperatures this coming summer. I had a nice hot shower this morning - and then realized I hadn't set the immersion heater the night before. The water was still hot from the previous day's sunshine. I have occasionally been able to shower in the late afternoon using just the solar heater, but never before in the morning in January.
Are there any long term prognostications for the UK yet? Last summer seemed pretty hot, but I fear that climate change is going to give yet more extremes.

Had a couple of nights that were clear from dusk till dawn. Managed some long imaging sessions but giving it a miss tonight as I don't trust my footing on the terraces with the ice. Last night's imaging finished at 6.20 this morning, with the summer constellations rising in the north east when I went to shut down.

More chance of summer being hotter and lots of rain in a short spaces of time. I won't be surprised if the river here gets lower, cloudier, warmer and supports less wildlife (as seems to be the recent trend). Mud will be drier so that when it does rain most of the water just runs off the land and disappears down stream quickly.

It’s been a bit milder these last couple of days. No frosts yesterday or today, but a bit gloomy.

Although the air temperature is above freezing my terraces are such good heat-sinks that they are still frozen, to the point that I lost my footing yesterday when I went to bring in more logs.
I need to defrost them before I can think about more imaging, or even do some work in the garden.

I am much more interested in weather trends, and indications of climate instability, than I am in weather reports - things like early or late harbingers of spring, and increasing or diminishing weather patterns. I just want to know how much doodoo we're really in!

Well the village lido, aka the slurry lagoon, is currently an ice rink.

That definitely counts as doo doo, even if you can't be in it right now.

It's currently bright but grey with a stiff breeze throwing the drizzle around.
