Out here we have a glorious first half of December - but we are about to pay for it! All the forecasts are showing a deep low hitting the island tonight, with strong northerlies, a dramatic drop in temperature, torrential rain and snow in the mountains.
What's it like in the UK? Y'all coping with a high-priced-power winter, although I guess that doesn't officially start until tomorrow?

We've had a couple of VERY cold weeks, temperatures right here down to -9, with some snow, which is almost unheard of this early in the winter these days. Last couple of days have been much warmer, though, albeit wet and windy too.

Sounds as though the Northern hemisphere has flipped, and you're getting what we've just had, good luck!

Well, after a couple of weeks of sub zero temperatures, it's warmed up dramatically, accompanied by torrential rain and wind just this side of gale force.

Yup, it may have warmed up down south but it hardly stopped raining on Sunday and Monday. Today was dry, but there is still so much surface water, and although it's still mild, the cars in the works car park were all covered in condensation long before 4:30pm, and several including mine had condensation on the inside of the windscreen too. The forecast is that it will stay well above freezing for at least the next few days and also stay dry for at least another 2 days

I am not looking forward to next summer. I have just read a report that predicts that the Eastern Med will warm faster than most other regions on the planet. If December is anything to go by, the report is right - it is the warmest December I can remember, with daytime temperatures over 20°C. Tomorrow will be the first day this winter I will light a fire, and then more for tradition than comfort. Last summer we saw 44°C quite often. What will it be next year?

This summer was a disaster for us. Early frosts holding things back, then dry, then rain followed by rain. I had roses blooming in December and January shrubs blooming as well. I hold out no hope for a normal summer next year. Probably floods here!

This is my most un-fun weather: freezing rain. Don't know if you get that in England, but it is when rain freezes immediately upon contact. Everything is a sheet of ice about half-inch thick, the trees, the streets the house. Even the flag in front of our house is iced. Temps overnight down to 21⁰F (-6⁰C). Impossible to drive on ice-covered streets without studded tires. Hoping it will melt by this afternoon so holiday won't be spoiled.

We have freezing rain here as well there is a thick layer of ice on everything. Driving anywhere was out of the question today.

I saw the weather forecast the other week which was mentioning some parts of the UK was due freezing rain but I don't think it is that common here.

Oregon, iirc. Looked pretty sunny in the latest episode of Car Trek....that might have been the magic of television though. Saw a headline that made me laugh.... "Hell has frozen over"

I'm in Terrace 600 kilometres from Prince George. I live in a valley about 150 kilometres from the ocean. We get the damp coastal weather and the cold interior weather. Last Wednesday morning it was -24C here and today it is +4C. Depends which way the winds are blowing.
