Winter started here today - black skies, howling wind, plenty of rain. The midday temperature dropped from around 20°C to below 10°C. Shopping today by 4x4, not the scooter. Surprised it started!

It's wet and windy here, same as it has been for the last I don't even know how long. I'm running out of space to put all the towels to dry after using them to soak up the water pouring in from the living room window.

Sun is out but it's cold and forecast to rain the rest of the day. How did it know I had to go out?

Wet and windy for another Saturday :-( I had to go out to the opticians for my eye test; prescription has altered and I need a new pair of spectacles (variofocals) but I now qualify for a discount as I'm over 60, so "just" £320. Got home and partly washed the car to get the worst of the road grime off, and discovered that the front tyres look like they need replacing to get through the MoT next month (I had originally planned to change them to a full set of Crossclimates last autumn but a change of job meant that the car isn't getting used that much now), so that's over £500 on a full set of tyres too, today (online purchase for a change during the week). Ah well......

It seems it's the turn of Cyprus to take a beating. Ayia Napa is flooded to the point that somebody went ski-boarding behind a 4x4 down the high street! The Troodos mountains are quite frequently closed to all but 4x4s or cars with chains, but now all Troodos roads are closed to all traffic due to heavy snow - first time I can recall.
This is going to carry on till Wednesday, apparently. It hasn't effected this village yet, and as my house is on the side of hill I am unlikely to be affected, but it's still pretty worrying, all the same.

Ah well...... Did you go for the CrossClimate 2 or +? 2 is the latest version with the total life performance, or whatever they call it, so it works better all the way down to the wear limit.

The booking slip just says Crossclimate 2, no "plus" (about which I wasn't aware anyway). I fitted Crossclimates to the car my wife uses (it's mine) a couple of years or more back, and 've been very pleased with how they wear. When I originally thought about replacing the tyres on my car with them last autumn, they were not available in the size required, which was one reason I delayed going ahead. It was only when I got back from the opticians and looked at the fronts, I thought that maybe they would be marginal for 1.6mm across 75%. There's still more than this in the middle and insides, and the rears have probably 3 or 4mm left but they are the originals and the car was built around September 2015, so I felt it safer to replace the entire set

Well I went out earlier for a walk, taking 3 cameras with me - one of my main ones, the Sprocket Rocket and the Horizon 202 aiming for some panos. Got the shots I absolutely needed, but the wind was too raw to do what I really wanted. Which means I'll have to try again, better prepared for the weather.

Freezing, -3 degC and falling. Warning until Wednesday for snow and ice. It did snow a bit then melted a bit then froze. Just the worst.

There was some white stuff on the hills here but none on the streets although I was still dodging grit on the paths when out with the dogs this morning. Just a few paths round the shops thankfully. River was quite high but Bravo still went for a swim.
