Just had the misfortune to listen to the repulsive Julian Jessop being "interviewed" on the Coronation Hagiography Channel (the Beeb). Talking obvious pish about the cost and value of the coronation and being given an easy ride.

About 2/3rds less work for me today due to the extra bank holiday. Count yourself lucky. Where I work, we all had to give up a day of our annual leave for this "Bank Holiday" because it's not one of the "standard" ones. We would have had to have done the same last year for "the funeral" except it was so late in the year that many had already used up all their leave for the year. |

I'm self employed so don't get annual leave. If I don't work I don't get paid. Bank holidays are a relatively recent thing (industrial revolution?) that have been introduced in times of financial prosperity and are essentially a flex of wealth. How appropriate was it to have an extra one during a cost of living crisis? I'm fine with the easy day....I didn't have to go out until it had stopped raining and I could have balanced my workload by fixing bikes instead of walking dogs. |

I have to use my holiday pay to cover bank holidays at the moment so between Easter and 3 bank holidays this month I am seriously taking a financial hit as I can't accumulate holiday fast enough to cover the bank holidays
