I’ve seen a quote of £250 million - actual cost £100 m and £250 for security………as we’re also supposed to chant an oath of loyalty……..coincidentally the last German to require that in the form of the ‘fuhrereid’ was a certain ex-corporal with a Charlie Chaplin moustache.

My hearing is definitely going. I keep hearing them referring to Queen Vanilla. My thoughts turn to ice cream at that point.

I will be participating - but only selectively. I'll be omitting the Oath of Allegiance part..... which leaves just the swearing bit to be done. I'm good at that.

Anyway. I think it is money well spent. Such a shame we won't be able to see it as we will be driving through France. We will have it on on the radio though and at the appropriate time I shall pull onto the hard shoulder, and we'll all stand and chant our allegiance to the King and Vanilla.
