The Beeb's headline - "Charlses and Camilla crowned in historic coronation". Does that mean they were actually transported back a few centuries for the event? Just as long as they leave them there , that's fine by me .

Coronated? where was you brung up?
Most people would just say crowned and be done with it. Actually it has two other meanings, one related to the crown feathers of a bird and the other decorations around a spire.

Putting the monarchy vs. republican debate to one side (personally I'm not fussed either way) I thought the ceremony was a remarkable piece of theatre and was a visual and audio delight. Certainly better viewing than a lot of what can be seen on terrestrial TV. I did have two disappointing moments. Firstly I find Penny Mourdant an incredibly attractive woman, although having seen her I hold that sword I wouldn't want to arm wrestle her. It's just such a shame she's a tory. My other disappointment was when May, Johnson, Truss, and Cameron pitched up the guy on the Wurlitzer didn't start playing 'Entry of the Gladiators' by Julius Fučík.

Agree with you about Penny, but surely Send in the Clowns would have been more appropriate.

Since the new King is a few years older than me, it's likely there will be another coronation to pay for long before we have all finished paying for this one.

I find Penny Mourdant an incredibly attractive woman, I did like her dress sponsored by Poundland And the matching head band. It all looked like a uniform. The swords are reported as being about seven pounds in weight, about the same as the very old .303 standard Lee Enfield service rifle. We drilled with those as teenagers in the late 50's. Just imagine presenting arms with one of those for nearly two hours. She did use a sling around her neck to take the weight for some of the time, but even so it was an impressive performance. The previous person in her role was weedy Rees Mog. I wonder how he would have managed. Martin is not the first person to spell her name incorrectly. The Beeb did so consistently.

Good job Kate didn't wear black. She would have been in danger of being used as a biro.
