Cheese omelette made with the Chuckling Cheese company's "Strongest ever cheddar", which stood up to its name made Canadian strong cheddar look a bit of a wimp Couple of roasted portobello mushrooms stuffed with cheese and garlic on the side and for a change buttered runner beans Had a satsuma to follow might have another one before bed time

Leek and stilton soup, steak pie (made with slow cookered brisket) with roasties, beetroot and apple and peas. baked bananas and lemon with icecream to follow. First time we had friends round for dinner since Covid started. Meant to do it last year but stuff like the roof repair and cafravan clearing got in the way.

Since the start of the year I’ve been determined to cut down my food intake. I only eat fruit and water until I get home from work BTW that’s a 45min walk in the morning (long way) then 25min walk home in the evening I don’t drink or smoke and stopped tea/coffee 3yrs ago So now it’s water all day until home, hot chocolate as soon as I get in. Then usually soup or omelette Mon-Fri I either binge Saturday or Sunday but not both.
At 54 I’m absolutely determined to change my lifestyle.

Lunch was the last of the venison pie, for dinner I grilled a couple of soss and tomato (Halved with black pepper and a small knob of butter), sautéed the button mushrooms from when I did the pie, and some instant mash.

Philly cheese steak, but for a cultured pallette. 10oz ribeye with truffle cheddar and sauteed onions in between two doorstep slices of crusty bloomer.

I had run out of lamb gravy and lamb stock but did have lamb bones in the freezer. The house has been full of the aroma of simmering stock for much of the day.
I made lamb gravy, and served simmered waxy potatoes, carrots, leeks and frozen peas. Two slices of lamb leg from the freezer reheated in the new gravy were perfect. I'll gloss over the red plonk.

Nothing particularly exotic, chunky fish fingers and chips with steamed broccoli and carrot.
