Re Redcurrent Jelly, would still work and probably hit 11.5. IMO black pepper is seriously underrated these days. I adore chillis but BP still has a flavour all of its own.

I love black pepper as long as it is coarse ground and thanks for reminding me I am nearly out of it and need to get some more
My dinner tonight was a couple of brisket beef burgers with herb butter in a couple of rolls with cheese and fried onions and a little sweet chilli sauce

Grilled piri-piri chicken breast fillet with roasted butternut, carrot, and parsnip.
Glass of chardonnay/semillon to wash it down.

You can adjust how coarse or fine it grinds and it is very good.

My whiz round Morrisons last night resulted in a hodgepodge of veg, two reduced rotisserie chickens and a reduced sourdough loaf so I roasted all the veg up (beets, peppers, courgettes, onions, sweet potato, corn on the cob, tomatoes) and stripped the meat of the chickens. Last night we had roast veg and chicken. Tonight is Burns night so we'll be having the trad. haggis/neeps/tatties combo and my son who is averse to Haggis (? WTH is wrong iwth him?) will have more chicken. Tomorrow the remains of the roasted veg will be chucked into a vat of pasta and stirred up with some own-brand philadelphia cheese. Friday is payday so we're having takeaway and on Saturday there will be chicken curry and roasted veg soup for the freezer.

As it's Burn's night it was only right and proper that I had ribeye steak topped with stilton and sauteed leeks and mushrooms. Garlic baguette provided the carbs.

Gammon steak topped with pineapple, chips and peas a very nostalgic meal for me because when I used to show rabbits with my dad if we went to some of the Northern shows on the way back he'd stop at a a particular motorway service station on the way back and they had a "happy eater" I think it was called so we'd go in there and that was what I had the steaks used to come with a little flag stuck in them saying "Well done" "medium rare" etc

Not sure I'd fancy an uncooked gammon. Even us northerners don't eat gammon that isn't cooked through.
