Bingo cards at the ready, Strictly is back!
To the usual suspects, yeah whatever. If you feel the urge to tell us you haven't watched telly since the Queen's coronation through Radio Rentals window you can start your own thread for that.
So your thoughts on this year's pairings. I reckon Sam Quek, Shayne Ward, and the bloke off of TOWIE are my tips for the final. I'm looking forward to seeing what Toyah Willcox can do and the blind comedian Chris McCausland will be funny, if nothing else. Wynne Evans from the Go Compare adverts is my dark horse and Paul Merson will go out first, purely because Nick Knowles is the housewives' favourite.

We don’t usually start watching until about halfway through. I suppose I should look at who’s involved.

As a matter of interest, do you/did you ever dance that sort of stuff Martin? (not askin' about sequined spuds or anything just curious)

He was practicing with a cow the other week when he tripped.

It looked like Toyah couldn't stop a pig in a poke!
Agree with your comment about Wynne Evans.

I find it quite interesting that you can make predictions after one programme - seeing them perform just in the group dance. That's WAY beyond my skill level.

I settled in for the launch show which did not disappoint - although after recent revelations/allegations etc I think they pushed the 'we just want everyone to have fun' line a bit hard. Bit obvious there, BBC! Anyway, I reckon Sam Quek and Shayne Ward for the final. I am not sure that Toyah was ever that good at dancing - making a dramatic entrance, yes (we'll see if she gets to zip wire). Wynne should at least score on 'musciality' and may well be the surprise of the season. I think her off Miranda might be a bit nifty on her feet too.
On a slightly different slant I was quite surprised to hear a short blast from my cousin's band Yard Act when they were introducing one of the celebs...just a second or two but instantly recognisable to me.

I think that there are a few couples who are likely to be good. I'm not expert enough to predict.

I reckon there's 10 contestants who have the potential to get to the final couple of weeks based on last night's dances. I'm staying with Sam Quek to win, Wynne Evans certainly looks like he's this season's surprise package, and Chris McCausland was just astonishing. I doubt he'll get anywhere near the final weeks, but considering he's blind him and Dianne Buswell deserve all the plaudits they are sure to get. I've changed my mind on who will be first to get the heave-ho. Toyah is the worst contestant by a country mile.

I laughed when Wynn said that he'd been sharing a dressing room with Merson for two weeks and Merson still thought that he was called Gwyn then added, "how his partner taught him anything at all I'll never know"

I watched the last half of it, with the sound off and subtitles on as usual. I've no idea who anybody is but it seemed better than usual for week one. I guess one guy must have prior dance training because the judges really laid into him with detailed critique then gave him low marks. The blind chap, I'm sure I've seen him on HIGNFY, is incredibly brave.

Didn't watch it last night (fourth migraine this week that saw me in bed ludicrously early) but will watch on catch up later today before the results show.
