We continue to be plagued with LibDem paper - inundated! The other day, the Postle delivered a slew of leaflets from the Greens and other n'er do wells. Also had another from the Tory (Rishi clone) but it seemed to be a 'national one' rather than local. A LibDem gain is my prediction. Mick Along with an increase in the carbon footprint

Several bits of bumpf with post today.
Interesting to see where it was all printed before being sent to our corner of Kent.
Conservative-London Greens-Nottingham Labour-Northants One of our independents-Rotherham.
I looked for the recycle symbol on the Greens flyer, but it doesn’t have one!

The English Greens' biggest such gaffe was probably when they were campaigning for an end to unpaid internships, but were found to be recruiting - you've guessed it! - unpaid interns!

In the UK it's a pretty mark to fool people . No force of law behind it.

I want to make it law that you can only talk about your own policies when campaigning. Tell us why I should vote for you, not why I shouldn't vote for someone else.

They think we're stupid... Like New Labour privatising the NHS under health sec Andy Burnham. Lost the election and as shadow health sec immediately stated concerns over government privatising the NHS.

It was better being the new PM slagging himself off as previous chancellor instead of being chancellor being slagged off by a new different PM.

SWMBO got what seemed to be a handwritten letter from our Rishi clone. Of course it wasn't (handwritten that is) but the envelope might have been. One of his 'selling points' was that he hasn't bombarded us with leaflets!
He does admit that Labour are likely to win.

I had to smile just now when a Green candidate was asked if she was a socialist. You could almost see her retreating into her shell as she stumbled out the usual mantra of their aims.
Why do people fight shy of saying they a socialist? If you think about it, we are a society of sorts. Many of us have similar aims. A good place to live, safe, comfortable in our homes and jobs if we have one. Positive about circumstances if we get ill or just old. Good education for our youngsters. Not burdening them with debt. Not bankrupting older folk to pay for care. Good public transport. Housing to suit all needs.
So why is it a dirty word this socialism? A word to be avoided, it seems, by politicians in our democratic nation?
Is it because it reduces capitalism? Is it because we would have to pay real taxes (all of us) to enjoy a fair society for all? Is that so scary?
