Exactly my point. The only people who listen to R3 are on this forum. No wonder they don’t want to spend much money on it. 😀 I assume precisely no-one listens to R1? I've been known to occasionally.

I don't know what you lot are bickering about... Most BBC radio stations have numbers. R(adio) 3 is the classical station. R4 is for drama - I think. It is not something I have ever listened to.
When I was young R1 was for then current rock/pop music and R2 for the stuff that then old fuddie duddies listened to - easy listening and that sort of stuff.
I am not really up on what R1 and R2 do these days but I do not think today's youth listen to them in any numbers.

Oh dear, what a pity, never mind.

R2-13.5 million listeners R4-9.5 million R1-7.5 million R5-5.5 million R6-2.7 million R3-1.7 million Given the competition R1 & 2 have from streaming services and independent radio that's still some pretty strong numbers.

The problem with Radio 4 is that, with the exception of news, catching a short clip is meaningless you get part of a 1/2 hour programme missing the beginning and end. Driving home from work I usually caught a full half hour, or more, even if there were gaps where I was concentrating on crawking around the M25. These days I just don’t get the opportunities to listen.

So basically the entire adult population of the UK listens to BBC radio? Unbelievable!

A list of BBC radio progs and what they do is linked below: www.bbc.com/aboutthebbc/whatwedo/publicservices#networkradioI'm afraid that I only listen to radio when I'm driving. Classic FM is my 'go to' but that's closely followed by R4. However R4 needs more attention than other progs so it's not my favourite driving programme. Mick
