Used to be a bit of an occasion here few friends came round (or we went to theirs) and we all got rather drunk/stoned (the best Eurovision was the year we all dropped acid it made a lot more sense that year) had tons of snacks/ordered in pizza. I don't think we actually listened to it but everyone used to laugh at the costumes
Unfortunately the 2016 one was held the day Dave died I remember sitting in the Bell's where they were holding some sort of Eurovision party whilst trying to get my head around what had just happened and I have never watched it since

Strange how no-one admits to watching (at least no-one I know) but ,according to Martin, it attracts over 7m viewers.

Last year when Liverpool hosted the event it had 10 million viewers. I know plenty of people who watch it. Just to pee off our pseudo intellectual minority, one of them has a BA in clasics from St. Johns, Oxford, an MSc in butterfly conservation, and has a PhD as well. Nothing pseudo about him.

I understood that - I was just referring to your post!
An MSc in butterfly conservation? Where did he get that? Sounds more like a PhD thesis than an MSc!!

I've admitted to watching it in the past and had I not been driving back from Oxford and then tired when I got in, I would've watched it. I am not an intellectual though. Not once have I tuned into R4, R3 or Classic FM. I don't know anyone that does (or admits to it) except a few on here.

Mick If I recall correctly he did his masters at Bournemouth. It's something he did when he retired from the diplomatic corps, as was his PhD which I believe is specific to the Falkland Island Fritillary (his last post was Governor of the Falklands).

UK TV viewing figures are just a guess based on a few thousand households with BARB boxes. Globally, more people watch Mr Beast than Eurovision.

Does anyone know why we have Eurovision...to promote peace, harmony and a spirit of friendly co-operation... Something seen on this thread...never

I used to listen to Radio 3, but then they moved Test Match Special in 1994...

I admit to listening to radio 3. I can remember to listening to the light program, even radio Luxembourg. Never to radio 1 except to the odd exerts sufficient to inform me of its content. Sadly much of late night R3 is very similar to the bits of R1 that I have heard. Pretentious sonic crap is really annoying in the late evening.

Exactly my point. The only people who listen to R3 are on this forum. No wonder they don’t want to spend much money on it. 😀
