As March comes in we start to think winter is over. Signs of life in gardens, towns and wildlife. Something catches your eye and brings a smile to your face that life is on the move again.
As you know, I like puzzles and images that mean I have to study them and seek out the thing you saw that made you take that shot. It could be someone looking out of a doorway, or an attempt to brighten up a dull space in an alley or shop window. It might be the new buds on a tree or bush or even blossom appearing to say winter is over. Fragments leads us into a more abstract area, but the curious thing in the woods or on walls or doorways that catch your eye is what I want you to share.
Hope this is not too vague a challenge and that you have a good look round and spot what others might walk past without seeing.

Just snapping away at folk on the ghats in Varanasi. When I came to look/edit the image in PS, got a glimpse of something extra, lol. Life on The Ganges 6 by Nigel G, on Flickr

This started with a glimpse - not an unexpected one because I was looking for the subject - and in the photo it is a bit more than a glimpse, taken before it disappeared. 274A7801.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

This made me smile, caught out of the corner of my eye as I walked across the courtyard. So much unexpected that I went back and tried to frame a shot of it. Cotehele in 2019 DSCF2985.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Glimpse of March (if Feb 26th is close enough). Not very sharp but it was quite windy and exposure of 1/75th was a bit optimistic given the weather and 600 mm lens ( on APS-C). We changed our mind on the destination (was going birding) after experiencing the bite of the wind. DSCF7178.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Glimpse of a Robin in a glimpse of sunshine - also Feb 26th at Ness. Very few birds about and this one was flitting about without coming close at all. DSCF7193.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Old one of [half of] a Short Eared Owl from March 2019. Shows up much more than I remember. Took me a while to spot it. It is a long way away, this was a 500 mm + x1.4 lens on APS-H - effective 910 mm on FF. There were a few on the ground in the long grass, almost invisible until they put their heads up. This is a slight crop to put it on a third. It is bang in the middle of the original, that being the AF focussing point used. BV9R3568-Enhanced-NR.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

A photographer local to me has been posting pictures of these owls lately. He caught two in flight towards him from a bit of a distance and then yesterday posted an absolute cracker of a shot of one flying across the lens. Really beautiful birds. They are wonderful to see in flight but tend to be quite far away. Here the best chances of a close shot is a high January spring tide that floods the marshes and drives all the small mammals out. The owls and other raptors have a feast day. I missed it this year (again) but it has become a publicised spectacle and hundreds of folk now turn up to watch which makes access difficult unless you turn up 2-3 hours early. I was surprised to see a March date on my photo - I must keep an eye on the tides this month. They need to be over 10 m at Hilbre, more usually they are 9 or less.

240210-Contre Jour Old Parish Church Cardross-001 by Kath Polley, on Flickr The theme for the Photography & Wellbeing Group was Contre Jour but on the day our photowalk there didn't seem to be a lot of 'jour' to get contre about. We found a solution when we got to the old bombed church though - glimpses of sky through glassless windows.

A glimpse into a dark work environment of a tailor. I saw him in darkened back streets working away. He saw me and was happy to pose for a photo. Tailor by Nigel G, on Flickr
