A glimpse of magnolia. Spots of colour that catch the eye are something I find difficult to photograph. DSCF7281.jpg by Pete, on Flickr One that didn't work. I'm not sure what the tree is. The white blossom looked quite spectacular seen through the trees but the photo really doesn't succeed. DSCF7282.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Dunno whether to put this here or in Grinds my Gears Glimpse of progress. They are putting footings in for the new houses immediately behind us. I've not cut the hedge for four years so can't see all of what is being done without climbing behind it. this is mainly next door. The greenhouse is ours. The building line is supposed to be 30' from the boundary but without a laser measure it is hard to judge distance. The boundary itself is a bit vague. DSCF7298.jpg by Pete, on Flickr They've been laying tarmac somewhere a bit down the road today. We've had aggregate lorries emptying their load behind us, then heavy diggers putting it into dumper trucks and moving further into the development DSCF7300-Pano.jpg by Pete, on Flickr A new one is putting fork-lift spikes on the diggers instead of shovels. They've been going apace up and down the access road moving pallets of breeze blocks. They are failrly large tracked vehicles. The whole house shakes if they go above a slow shuffle pace. It hasn't been so bad while they sit moving the soil about (moving clay from A to B seems to be a key activity), it is just noisy, but I don't like the house shaking.

Stunning. Have you done much to the image or was it really like that? Not been in fog like that but I recall a scene in the Highlands where the sun broke through swirling rain clouds and any photo that accurately recorded that moment would be judged fake, so I know that exceptional light is a thing.

That was edited from the RAW. This is the JPEG straight from camera Fog unedited by Nigel G, on Flickr And this was from just before (converted RAW but not edited), so yes, other than some adjustments the fog did look like that.
