Reports suggest it's been pretty bad there again? Been nice here...frosty starts and then winter sun. View AttachmentMore damage down the east coast of the North Island, this time. Glad you are safe. Pictures on the news are pretty awful. Water rose so fast for some. |

To add to the unease, the Wellington region was hit by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake last night. It was a heavy shake, but does not appear to have caused damage. The Prime Minister was asked for his reaction - he said it would be unprintable, and he was looking out the window for a plague of locusts.

I've survived so far. 75mph gusts not so nice. Lashing rain now. Hopefully the worst is over.

We were supposed to have winds gusting to 40mph. What we have is a bit of a breeze and wall to wall sunshine.

Quite a few wheelie bins have been blown down streets and some garden fences damaged here. Not many trees down in the woods but loads of new sticks lying around so the dogs are happy.

Not really to laugh at, the state of the North Island of New Zealand - but - the New Zealand accent can lead to the occasional misunderstanding.
I've just heard one reporter say it might take dickheads to sort out and recover from it.
Took me a moment to realise she actually said decades...
