Well, it's all downhill from here. How do you top a fine pair of Pentax? Couple of Contax? Lots of Leica? No Contax, and no Leica, either.
This is about as close as I get to a Leica.
Nice! In 2003 whenI decided to take photography seriously I very nearly bought a Bessa instead of the FM10, and I do still wonder how my photography would have been different if I had taken that path.

I briefly owned and used a Besser R which was a fine, easy to use car but it never felt as special as the Kiev before it or the Leica M2 that followed it. Mrs. zx9's Toyota Corolla has a similar attraction to me, a perfectly competent form of transport that demands little, economical, always starts on the coldest of mornings and is actually capable of been hustled along when the mood takes but I never wake up and think 'let's go for a spin in the Corolla'

But... The Bessa body and FM10 body are basically the same thing but with different viewing arrangements. Just as the FM10 led to nicer film and digital SLRs I suspect I'd have a Leica M4 by now if I'd gone done that route. Or maybe I'd have hated rangefinders and either moved to SLRs anyway or perhaps have given up on photography. Who knows?

I always fancied a Contax RTS III until I realised that auto focus was better than I am, or will ever be, and moved to Nikon. The F5 is great but for some reason doesn’t have the appeal of the RTS III.

Nice! In 2003 whenI decided to take photography seriously I very nearly bought a Bessa instead of the FM10, and I do still wonder how my photography would have been different if I had taken that path. Upon re-reading your earlier post, I noticed the alliteration i.e. pair of Pentaxes, couple of Contaxes, lots of Leica. This went completely over my head yesterday. My excuse: it was late (and I was a couple of glasses in ).
How about a brigade of Bessas? Or a voluminosity of Voigtländers?

As I understand it (though I've never handled one) the RTS III was 'Engineered'. With a capital E, that is.
I did once handle a Contax 139 - the build-quality of which was very nice.

How about a brigade of Bessas? Or a voluminosity of Voigtländers? Surely it would be a brace of Bessas?

How about a brigade of Bessas? Or a voluminosity of Voigtländers? Surely it would be a brace of Bessas? That one did occur to me, Steve, but I don't think it was limited to two cameras (Zou's "lots of Leica", for example).
A number of other words beginning with the letter B came to mind - none of which were suitable for a family forum.

Love that old Minolta typeface. I have not tried the download and do not know if the site is safe or not. Treat with care.
