Another one that might scrape into the category:  soft focus mod half stop down by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr Shot soft focus using a home modified lens (rear group removed & extension added to compensate for the focal length shift) The soft focus effect is stronger with the aperture fully open, but I prefer the look of this one. |

I'm going to have to spend the afternoon with my head in a camera manual. I found some batteries and put the ring-flash on my Canon and went in the garden looking for buds. I've completely forgotten how to use both flash and a DSLR. Horrific overexposure and the flash exposure compensation isn't working. Anyway - I'm slowly working through the first batch. Then I'll try to sort out the flash exposure and have another go. These are hand-held, it is blowing quite hard so focus as well as exposure is off. I'm posting these in case better examples do not happen. This is in next door's garden, replete with grey aphids, a hoverfly (in flight) and an ant if inspected closely but not possible at this 800 px.
