Rather stumped by "summer". I asked Flickr and it came up with 312 of my photos that it considered fitted the theme - goodness knows why. I seem to have had an obsession with yellow this year. Mostly getting cross because I think I've seen one shade of yellow and the picture shows another - hey ho - getting old I suppose. I'm going to pick this one because it is bright and sunny and seems to have been a recurring subject as I have wandered about Ness Gardens over the summer weeks. 274A1772.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

I suppose this sums up summer for many (August 4th 2014) but sitting on the beach is not my cup of tea. BV9R0103.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

To all those who have had a rainy summer. Sorry! I sent it down to you. Ours has been dry - too dry.

I like to think of summer as being a time for waterside walks & playing with Infra red Flatford bridge by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr All too often however it ends up being traffic jams as folks from London invade for the beaches. At least the current rain reduces that issue

July 14th 2017 - just before schools break up I guess - looks cold. Viewed at 100% there is a preponderance of fleece wearing! Looking in Lightroom we do seem to have avoided the seaside in the summer months since I had a digital camera and the pictures have date taken information (2007). Lots of beach pics of the kids on film, seems an age ago. I liked using Konica colour negative film for the beach - it did the combination of sand, sea and sky very well. 274A3689.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Summer used to be walking on Dartmoor - this from August 11th 2010 - on Down Tor. Dartmoor National Park has got very busy in the last few years, not as bad as North Wales or the Lake District but getting there. It can still be quiet, away from the roads and parking places. Round here the beaches are typically fairly featureless, so I prefer them with people. When you have small beaches enclosed by rocks, nearly empty would be far preferable I'd rather search rock pools than sunbathe anyday.
