Fly fishing was my preferred route when I dabbled in it. I loved the skill required to tease a fish to come up and bite. Think I inherited it from my dad and granddad - and great granddads too.

Another catch. This Great Crested Grebe was too far away and had its back to me which made the failure to get a better picture rather galling. At least I didn't fall in. This was back in October 2012 in the park at Tervuren outside Brussels. I miss that place. BV9R0035-Enhanced.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Once I get an idea in my head ... There is a gap of 127 in the frame count before this picture so unfortunately I've deleted the "fisher". A cormorant performed the catch and was promptly robbed. The cormorants were targeting eels but I guess that an eel doesn't count. BV9R0122.jpg by Pete, on Flickr and having robbed it, hasn't a clue what to do. Too big to swallow. I expect a sniggling cormorant would count. I had to look that up, new word for me, but I think cormorants do have other methods of catching eels. Speaking of eels, I discover they are classified as fish which allows me .. BV9R0034.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

BV9R0034.jpg by Pete, on Flickr I think whether they count as fish or not, the act of trying to catch them is still 'fishing' isn't it? I mean you can be fishing and catch nothing but an old shopping trolley...

However I wanted to show the "fish". I've got a good one on film somewhere. I didn't notice when I took the picture [of a boat] but to the side of the image and in the deep shade of a willow tree a fisherman was holding a very large fish, salmon maybe. It was hard to see on the 6x4 print but wonders can be done with a scanned negative. Edit: PS thanks for the ideas on the weed id. I'll go back and get some better pictures. There are two different flowers. Pignut possible for one.

Veiled In my old house, the best window was the one halfway up my stairs (a half-landing) where the window was the largest and the light was wonderful. I used to sit there quite often. ap veiled obscured flowers by Kate Ferris, on Flickr
