230615=PCH-27Steps-003 by Kath Polley, on Flickr At Photo Club the other day I set a challenge: Take your age and half it. That's the number of steps you're going to take between shots on our walk tonight. You can't stop before your designated number and you can't keep going. You have to take a shot every xx steps no matter what you're looking at. Take five and delete four, keeping only the best one to bring back for review.

Photo is quite cool in a 70's MoMa way.

They enjoyed it, although one did try to tell me they only had to do 15 steps between shots... In the end we had to compromise a bit on the editing aspect - the evening sun was coming in so strong at 9.30pm that we couldn't actually see anything on the screens so I agreed they could make the cut at home. I hope some will repeat the exericise between now and our next meeting on the 20th July.

Thank you all for entering photographs of alternative landscapes last month. I need to start with a big apologies for my recent sparse attendance here, I had a failing to reach completion project dropped on my three days after we returned from Croatia which has been taking up a huge amount of my time. I will take another look through the through the thread this morning and put together some thoughts before be go to an all day event at Crystal Palace, If that does not happen it is because I am in the company of 30k ageing punks watching Iggy Pop, Blondie, GenerationSex and a few others.

Well there were some good early posts from Kate and Nige, with in the fields of gold and F I hope that is just the moon and not another asteroid though I don't think I can be taking toy animals on my travels. Some of you understandably find making some thing different of landscapes a little off piste, that I why I chose the theme and there was some early discussion as to what I am rebelling against which is good it makes us all think. PeteRob got the idea that mega landscape, standing in the tripod feet of the greats is what I was trying to get away from with his Dartmoor cows, even if it came with a question. Um, more ICM, I think I am getting to like ICM but having difficulty in the balance between abstract and record, but I did say alternative. On reflection I am liking the New Topographic pictures more and more, nice deck chairs in long grass and Kath's flotsam and jetsam on the beach is very me. Loving PeteRob's henge that i aligned to thinks we can not see that sounds like a whole Ancient Aliens program. I am liking Petrochemist's 360 degrees pictures, it must be difficult to make use of a full circular image, on a side note we saw a lot of people making 360 deg. videos in Dubrovnik mostly featuring a piece to camera that is definitely not for me. I did like Jack's view from the train, I am not sure if it's simplicity pips Zou's large format pin holes, and Nige's Dark landscape those are great. Bipolar, you get a special mention for cacti and tumble weed if that was a holiday picture reminding me of a trip to the USA it would be printed big, I know you live there but it's a big place. Kate's Martin Parr in Malta, I like that as too Dans' life belt for a field of corn. That was more difficult than I thought it would be. Overall Nige's Sheep with it's head in a bucket V. Bipolar's Tumble Weed... I have got to give it to Bipolar, the content, the in your face composition, the content, the New Topographic look, the content. Thanks again for everyone who took part, giving me loads to think of during the run of the months posts, watching the evolution of the monthly challenge is always fun.
Having difficulty tagging people today, if someone could try tagging Bipolar in the replies I would be grateful, here's to July.
Edit: Tag showed up in the final post.

Thanks for the mentions Keith and for not picking me as the winner. Don’t have to worry about thinking of a theme and ruining the rest of my week here in Portugal!
Well done Bipolar.

Edit: I have just sent a congratulations - it's your turn now PM in the hope email notifications are on for PMs
Personally I think we can give a few days or till next week end before Nige needs to step in if we don't see Bipolar.

Bipolar is the other side of the Atlantic. He might not be up yet. Yes mate, I know he is in the US but I hope he has not been asleep for over 36 hrs. That said in jest, I have no idea how often we see him. Most of the entries come in the first two or three weeks so no harm in making July a three week month if need be.

I messaged him earlier this evening, whilst he hadn't posted anything his status suggested he had been on the site about an hour earlier.

Not sure what made these. Superb! I've been a bit absent of late - so much going on here, not much of it interesting - but I'm just back from seeing Asteroid City at the cinema (birthday treat from my son) and I think tumbleweed was the only thing Wes Anderson left out! Fab shot. Well done!
