I know. If only there had been a group of people who could have called themselves remainers. They may have predicted that to have happened. Bravo, Captain Hindsight. I'm amazed we left the EU really . Ask around , there's so few people still admitting to voting "leave" it's amazing the vote went the way it did !

I take no satisfaction in telling the Brexiteers I know that they voted for it when they're moaning about queueing at the airport, environmental protection being removed, economic consequences of no longer being in the single market, etc.

That can be VERY satisfying, though.

That can be VERY satisfying, though. How many Leave voters believed that Brexit would stop immigration, when it has not done so? This was the 'elephant in the room' that many politicians avoided discussing, although it was obviously what many voters were worried about.

And now the greasy mogg has as good as admitted why they brought this in. www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/jacob-rees-mogg-admits-tory-voter-id-law-was-gerrymandering_uk_64620db8e4b03e16f1a45050Quote from the article. Speaking at the National Conservatism conference in Westminster on Monday, Rees-Mogg said: “Parties that try and gerrymander end up finding their clever scheme comes back to bite them, as dare I say we found by insisting on voter ID for elections. “We found the people who didn’t have ID were elderly and they by and large voted Conservative. The former Tory cabinet minister added: “So we made it hard for our own voters and we upset a system that worked perfectly well.” The new law was proposed and made its way through parliament while Rees-Mogg was serving in the government.

But older people tend to be well off and have passports/driving licences or not so well off and have bus passes. Both of which were acceptable.

That maybe the case, the point was, he has virtually admitted why they did it, despite saying otherwise when it was introduced. Personally though, for as long as I can remember, many, many years in fact , I have wondered why we have never had to show something when voting . Not even having to show the voting card that is sent to the house seemed odd.

Oh, it's the National Conservatism Conference, is it? Looking at who was saying what in the news I thought it was National Stiff a Sunak day.

What was overall turnout like compared to previous local elections? Not that it would surprise me if tory voters are more likely to be stuck in their ways and won't comply with change even if they are more likely to have suitable ID. I reserve the right to change my mind if the photo ID requirement is disproportionately harmful to tories.

Well they couldn't call it the National Socialist conference could they? That would be an admission of guilt.
