I ought to go out and get a fresh photo but I'm busy. I looked up the history. Although not precisely in its original location, having been uprooted and substantially destroyed by the parliamentarians in the civil war, the Chester High Cross marked an important meeting point according to what I could find of its history. These days it tends to get monopolised by buskers, most of whom make such a dreadful clamour that folk disperse rather than gather.
