That said, tonight it's fish and chips (with peas of the non-mushy variety) Round ones then.

I'm rolling the dice for tonight's dinner in a few minutes - I'll be off to the supermarket, to see if there is any suitable fresh fish. If not, there's bacon, which I'll exhume from the freezer.

Trying to work my way through mackerel fillet and noodles and losing the battle.

I've emptied the fridge. Nothing wasted and will visit the supermarket tomorrow. Clearing all old veg implies only one dish. Bubble and squeak. The essentials are mashed potato, onions, pepper and fat. This evening's bubble and squeak also had carrots and swede in the mash. Added to the mash were cooked chopped cabbage and asparagus stalks. This was served with the last instalment of mince, and just for a touch of class garnished with half a dozen asparagus tips.

Clearing all old veg implies only one dish. Bubble and squeak. I do love bubble and squeak when I was a kid on Boxing Day mum would do bubble and squeak and home made chips served with the cold meat leftover from Xmas Day with a selection of pickles for those that wanted it, I always preferred it to the actual Xmas dinner After a few days of not really eating much due to the traditional new year head cold tonight I had a large cottage pie with carrots, peas and sweet corn then a pot of tiramisu to follow

Steak, venison, cranberry and red wine pie with oven chips and baked beans. Accompanied by some of the excellent Cava. It may get better than this but it does not really need to.

Playing with my latest kitchen gadget, a Ninja 11 in 1 pressure cooker, steamer, and air-fryer. Starting simple with just a whole chicken that according to the blurb will be moist on the inside and crispy skinned, all in 40 minutes.

Annoyingly, chicken stew and mashed potatoes. Wanted a pie and someone promised to make her tasty GF pastry, but now "doesn't fancy" a pie so stew it is.
