Virtually nothing moving this afternoon at Ness Gardens. I was hoping for some butterflies but there were hardly any about and those that were were very active and on the wing. Small and dark brown and vanishing is all I got to see. This moorhen is a juvenile I think, on the basis of size. There were two adults nesting here and they had two chicks. I think this must be one of them. DSCF8352.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Urban Sedge Warbler from Salisbury city centre. Really pleased with the photo considering it was taken with the RF 18-135mm lens that's bundled as a kit with Canon R series bodies. sedge warbler by Martin Bone, on Flickr

Seen quite a few greater spotted woods around though this is the first time got a couple of shots of a green. He was quite a way away so it's a bit of a crop too far SHCF2522-01 by Stephen Hayto, on Flickr SHCF2526-01 by Stephen Hayto, on Flickr

I would never have seen it if it hadn't moved. I lifted the shadows [too much] to make it more visible. Moorhen on nest. DSCF8396.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Nae pics (well beyond the reach of my superzoom) but saw a family of snipe today, which made me very happy. I've known they were there but not previously seen them, so to see a whole group was delightful. Edit to say, I did get phone pics through the scope but they aren't great.

I got talking to a dog walker by the Water of Leith one day who pointed at the heron on a branch overhanging the river: "I call him Mr Grumpy, because he NEVER says hello!"
