Today's front cover appears to be a teenage girl with a black eye. Quite why a brutalised child should make a suitable subject I don't know. It is makeup used on both sides of her face, I still don’t like it though.

Just had a look, and LOL it does indeed look like 2 black eyes.
Trouble is I basically am programmed to ignore such images - there is something about nose-rings in particular (or any "incorrect" jewellery on a face) that makes me feel slightly sick as it is IMHO so wrong and unattractive

So I zone out because like you IMHO so wrong and unattractive. And on body piercing I don’t get those ear loop extending the hole in the lobe

If I was browsing in a newsagent, instead of being a subscriber, this is the type of image that would encourage me to keep my money (likewise issues that appear to be 'What Smartphone?' rather than AP). However, I accept that the editor knows what he's doing and really believes that the cover will tempt new readers into trying the magazine. My first thought was that perhaps there would be an article featuring subjects looking 'worse for wear' after a New Year's Eve distraction, or perhaps arrest.

Anyone else noticed that apart from on the 'Subscribe' page there is no mention of the actual magazine on the website?

Anyone else noticed that apart from on the 'Subscribe' page there is no mention of the actual magazine on the website? It's probably an embarrassing anachronism to the website people (assuming they have been told about it) - a bit like an old family member who sits in a corner at a party for the children, and occasionally farts and mumbles about the old days.

Don't pick on me. I suspect that farting and mumbling in such circumstances would require multitasking skills that many of us would not admit to. However, with care and discretion such things would be possible without detection.
