I'm wondering how the magazine staff will engage with its subscribers and purchasers now that they don't have a forum. A few years back we would occasionally post "topics of interest" such as postal delays in receiving subscription copies etc and we'd usually get a response. This became somewhat random over the past couple of years but I seem to recall that we did get dropped titbits of information, such as the sale to Time Life then Kelsey, and Kelsey taking more of an interest in the magazine and its staff etc, but now I'm not receiving my copy in the post on Saturdays any more, nor Mondays most weeks , so how do I reach out? Maybe I'll end up cancelling my subscription Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. If anybody's actually monitoring any of them, of course.

I'm upstairs and the mag is downstairs so forgive me not typing it. The arrival date is most often Tuesday although, to my surprise it turned up on a Saturday the week before last.

Maybe the editor was having a little joke at the expense of his employer.

Maybe the editor was having a little joke at the expense of his employer. No. From memory it was an homage to Angela who has worked very hard to get her "She Clicks" community working.

Knowing Nigel, I think we can be absolutely certain he was taking the opportunity to thumb his nose, whilst simultaneously rewarding his old colleague. A win/win.

Since the forum was axed I've had no reason to go on their website . No idea if this has any effect to them , there were no adds on the forum , so that wouldn't have been generating any income . I very rarely went on anything other than the forum , so again they wouldn't lose anything by me not visiting . If there were any adverts showing that they got a payment from when people clicked on them , again , not from me , not clicking on adverts anyway .

Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. If anybody's actually monitoring any of them, of course. Aren't these a thing for the "younger generation"? I don't "do" any of them, so maybe the magazine's staff or owners are only interested in appealing to youngsters, which if true makes me sad

The youngsters are on other apps.

My dad is 80 and has Facebook. I believe the youth prefer Tickety-Tockity.

I've managed to avoid all the above, also avoided mobile phones, although I have been amused at the antics of numpties so intent on their phones that they often collide with each other or street furniture.

I don't "do" any of them, so maybe the magazine's staff or owners are only interested in appealing to youngsters, which if true makes me sad Nope, categorically not. My 85 year old mother uses Facebook and Instagram, my 80 year old mother in law uses Facebook. So do my aunt and uncle, and my American relatives of the same generation (up to 90) - I've no relatives of that generation who don't use it, in fact. Twitter isn't really a young persons thing, and virtually no younger people use Facebook any more. Instagram is primarily used by younger people, true, but they actually need that to appeal to the youngsters, not the oldies. Some people choose not to use these social media sites, but it's thus their decision not to be able to stay in touch with AP, not AP's. "I'm old and I don't use X" doesn't mean that X is not used by old people.

"I'm old and I don't use X" doesn't mean that X is not used by old people. A syllogism. A Dog has four legs therefore all four legged animals are dogs.
