The Amazon driver who left a cardboard parcel outside the wrong house in the pouring rain. It got soaked. I had to go searching for it when I got the 'delivered' message and found that I didn't have it. OTOH I contacted Amazon and complained (just making my mark in case the contents were ruined) and they not only insisted on replacing but gave me a credit against my next purchase!! Mick Myself and my neighbour are always getting each others deliveries. The problem is my house has a name (original name of the farm) and my neighbour is The Barn followed by my house name. Forever sending each other texts asking if we have a delivery for the other! I noticed this week though, that Amazon now take a photo of the delivery of where it is left. They have never done that before, although other companies have. As you say though, their customer service is very good.

I had an Amazon parcel go missing a couple of years ago, and they had photographed it then. It had been put in some racking that had the name of the local bike shop on it, but I knew that the bike shop didn't have any of their racking in a back garden, nor was it anywhere on our street. They refunded without any problem, never did find out where the package went. It was an outside security camera, too, somewhat ironically.

To respond to GeoffR. From my ancient Forensic Medicine for Llb course, the best of a bad lot was slivers of slippery elm bark, which gently expanded the cervical orofice and thus caused the waters to break -early. Anyone who thinks going back to days of back street old bags with dirty knitting needles, seeking to scrape the putative foetus off the wall of the uterus is a good idea - work it out for your self. Edit - the above post was not remotely meant as a dig at GeoffR it was only meant as a follow on. Sorry G for any unintentional slur.

I think you have expanded my point; in the event that such barbaric action is necessary better it is done by medically trained and qualified people in a sterile environment with expert back-up available if required. Make it illegal and all that goes away too.

I ordered a 5 pack of 120 Formapan 200 a week or so back - the package just turned up with just one roll. Went on the website to return it as not as described, and they've credited me the full amount and told me to keep the film. Can't complain too much about that!

Customer service.
I know most of us dislike car sales people. Sarah is looking at replacing her car so today we went to a Toyota dealer to look at their second hand cars. friendly salesman, no hassle, I'm here if you need help. We went to a Renault dealer. Same again, she was helpful, asked if we wanted escorting around the cars or whether we were happy on our own. All good. We then went to a BMW/Mini dealer. Wandered around outside looking at the minis. No one appeared despite us being there a while. my wife went inside to sit in one of the minis. She came out saying how she had been ignored and that I should go in too and see whether it was a woman thing. I went in, we checked out some of the cars, which were new, some staff were dealing with folks, others were sat in offices, one wandered by with a coffee. Absolutely no one even acknowledged our existence, not a nod, a hello, nothing, not even to say that they'd be with us soon. For all they know we could be looking to spend £30k+. We left. Once outside my wife wanted to go back in and complain, but I talked her out of it, which is unlike me. She couldn't hold back so phoned up after a while and complained. Halliwell Jones will never get our business.
Secondly, we have just been out in her car which I drove. I rarely go in her car. I commented that it looked a bit dark ahead and did she have a bulb out? I stopped and checked. yep, FOS dipped beam bulb gone. She commented that it has been dark for ages, and she did wonder why!!

My car is 11 1/2 years old but I get a warning for any failed lamp, I'm somewhat surprised that others don't.

I am surprised too. Hers is a 2016 Renault Kadjar.
As an aside, anyone used Cinch to get a car?

Most recent warning I've had was for low washer fluid but I don't think it's a particularly common feature. Handy given working brake lights and having washer fluid is a legal requirement on UK roads (at least for the vast majority of cars on the road). Europe made TPMS a legal requirement but not lamp failure warning or washer fluid low?!

My car is 11 1/2 years old but I get a warning for any failed lamp, I'm somewhat surprised that others don't. Indeed. I’ve had bulb warning detection in my cars for ages. The first one was a Volvo 240 estate on an A reg (first character) plate. I think that was 1984 - although I didn’t have it from new. In fact it was a learning experience for me as it broke comprehensively shortly after the 3 month warranty expired and I had to have the engine reconditioned and the suspension replaced. In hindsight I reckon it had been clocked by about 250,000 miles. I bought it showing 89,000.

Considering it has a lot of other things, such as tyre pressure warnings, lane departure, auto full beam to dip and back, speed sign recognition etc, one would have thought it would have the bulb warning. TBF though it may have been somewhere on the panel and she’s scrolled past it. I’ll have a check tomorrow when I replace the bulb. Have to check YouTube later to see if I need to get a young child with rubber arms and a high pain threshold to gets it’s arms in to replace the bulb, like a lot of cars need!

I hope it’s not one of those cars that you also need to tell the central computer that a bulb has been changed.

A friend, and former colleague, had a Renault Megan. She asked if I would change a headlight bulb, sure if said, good job we had a multi story car park. Access was through the wheel arch and liner. Somewhat easier than a Trident droop (slat) position transmitter but not much and the Trident wing root wasn’t full of dried mud.
Mine is easy by comparison, nearside, remove the washer bottle filler neck and the cover over the light and accept scratches like you have fought the cat. Off side, remove the air mass meter and cover, accept the scratches like the cat was being friendly. Either takes about 10 minutes, the second time around!
I’ll take a 747-400 landing light any day, even if it is 12+ feet off the ground. Renault could learn a lot from Boeing. Unfortunately Saab aren’t around to do the same, still I have replaced both HID lamps now so I should have a bit of respite.

Just looked on YouTube. Looks very easy to change. No need to dismantle the car.

A friend went into a store to get something when he returned to his vehicle it started but the gear shift would not come out of park and there was a red exclamation mark illuminated in the instrument panel. It was a newer vehicle so he phoned the Ford roadside assistance phone number and they sent a tow truck to take it to the dealer for repair. It turned out the brake light filament in one of the rear bulbs had burnt out and the Electronic control unit deemed the vehicle unsafe to drive and locked the transmission in park.

Why wasn’t it an LED? The only filaments I are the front and rear indicators (repeaters are LED), number plate lights and main beam headlights, as already stated it isn’t exactly new, it will be 12 in April.
