What's your current gripe? Do you have a pet peeve? Do you need to vent to anyone who'll listen?
Trivial, humourous, or deathly serious, now is your chance to unburden yourself.

Where is the "New Posts" Button? I belong to a number of forums and they all have a "New Posts" button.

I've just been looking at the boardgames in the shops. I totally understand the benefits of a marketing tie-in with a popular film or TV franchise. The one I didn't understand was ”the Queen's Gambit" boardgame. The TV show was about chess and I may be wrong, but isn't there already a chess themed boardgame called...well...erm...chess?

Just had a deivery from Amazon, stupid driver completely ignored instructions to leave at the door of the flat, I waited at the door of the flat, nowt, apart from some sign of movement at the far end of the corridor - light came on for a few minutes; I eventually got my wlaker and shuffled up to reception, there it was, he'd dumped it on a table in reception took a piccy and departed. I didn't find the piccy until I got back to the flat and had a look at the tracking page. I checked the "Delivery instructions" page where it says to deliver to flat door, and also notes my age and that it is difficult for me to go to reception There appears to be no satisfactory way of contacting Amazon with a complaint, the online "chat" uses a set of stock answers none of which applied to my gripe, so tried the "have us call you" entered my phone number for them to call, still waiting!

WGMG, the half-witted morons we have working on our night milking team. It's been pretty chilly for a few days, but we don't have much bother down to around -5c . Last night was -10c and the last thing I told them was to put the additional space heater in the parlour to stop it freezing. All they had to do was plug it in and flick the switch on the socket. It took me 40 minutes to defrost the parlour this morning . I suppose we should be grateful they wear wellingtons to work, as they'd struggle to do their boot laces up.

The demister fan on SWMBO's car has died. Only put in in February, can't get it fixed until the 5th. On the bright side, the first aider's bonus from work will cover a hire car (I'm buggered if I'm vigorously chamoising the screen on a motorway).

Rubbish technology!
I was going to go out to shoot the pink flamingos on the Larnaca salt lake today, but a near tech disaster made me change my mind. I have a 2TB external drive that I store my 'keepers' on, and I connected it to back-up the card I was going to take with me - but the disk wasn't recognized by the laptop! Disconnect and plug in the backup drive - same problem. After a couple of hours trying to sort it, I figured out what the problem was. The laptop has two USB 2/3 ports, and one dedicated USB C (USB 3 with an either-way-up and higher current capacity) port. The USB C connection on my laptop was blowing the USB 3 circuitry in the drive boxes. There was no way to resurrect the master, as that was a raid array (although the two drives in separate cases worked fine), but I have been able to run the backup drive as a USB 2 device on a USB 3 port by changing the cable, so am now dedicating the rest of the day to backing that up. I do have a backup of the old backup, but that is a couple of years out of date, due to minimal photography during Covid.
So sorry folks - no pink penguin pics today!

For one horrible moment, I thought we were going to hear a story about a hideous wildlife massacre.....

It was either that or invite the spokesperson of a far right think tank on to tell you why nurses are evil for wanting to not starve or freeze this winter. The attitude of even those in senior positions in the medical hierarchy is appalling. Many years ago I was visiting my mother in a home when a senior medico from the local hospital was visiting to check on the residents. There was some unrest amongst nurses at the time, and I challenged him about it. "Well, you see", he said, "nursing is a vocation, so if we set the pay any higher then it will attract people who do it just for the money, and we really don't want that". I am sure that Saint Peter recorded in his book that I showed superhuman restraint, that I didn't slap him into the middle of next week. If my mother had heard, she would have slapped him into the middle of next week, Saint Peter be damned!

St. Pete would commend you for slapping that kind of person, then making them turn the other cheek and slapping that side too. At least, I think that's what the good book said.
