Huh? Help me understand. I fail to see how a video, lacking in commentary of any kind, and even devoid of contributory comments on YouTube (where it is housed), can be "slanted." It is a source video, meaning it is merely an unedited audio/visual recordation of what actually transpired. How does a source video warrant the moniker "slanted"? Kellen, this video is uploaded to YouTube by an anti-abortion group and states in big, bold text that the woman was supposedly arrested for just 'silently praying'. It doesn't take much investigation to discover that this is untrue. May I remind everyone that no matter how emotive the discussion, please keep things civil.

Well I stuck to my guns knowing a herdsman with my skillset and experience is in high demand and I have legal cover through my wife's union. Basically both the father and son have received official verbal warnings and been left under no illusion that if they have to make a choice it wouldn't be me getting a P45. Given that one of my bosses wife's is an HR manager means everything was done above board. Having been dealing with my dear family for two days, I'd missed this. Bit of a shock reading the first post - good to hear that it has been rapidly resolved in your favour!

My first thought is that one can pray silently, or even aloud, without breaching a “Public space protection order” and indeed would be well advised to do so in such a way as to remain within the law. I do not approve of abortion as an alternative to contraception but I do accept that, distasteful as it is, sometimes there is no alternative. Better by far to provide a safe, lawful, service than to return to quackery. Sorry if you don’t agree.

She's been charged with 4 counts and the cop seemed to recognise her and knew where she lived, FWIW. I'm guessing it wasn't her first rodeo and the cops had been paying attention. My take on it is the cops did their job well.

To respond to GeoffR. From my ancient Forensic Medicine for Llb course, the best of a bad lot was slivers of slippery elm bark, which gently expanded the cervical orofice and thus caused the waters to break -early. Anyone who thinks going back to days of back street old bags with dirty knitting needles, seeking to scrape the putative foetus off the wall of the uterus is a good idea - work it out for your self. Edit - the above post was not remotely meant as a dig at GeaffR it was only meant as a follow on. Sorry G for any unintentional slur.

Kellen. If you are anti abortion why not just say so instead of spouting [whatever] about the right to silently pray in public. In the interests of fair play I did watch the friggin video. I trust you that she was asked if she was praying but in watching the friggin video I missed it which re-inforces my view that any such question was incidental. If you care to watch the video you will see and hear that the arrest was for the current and previous actions. It was also a completely by the book arrest by police officers who obviously were aware they were being videod by a fellow anti abortion activist. Once more if your axe is anti abortion why not just play straight say so? Still it does not matter who hurt you it matters more who healed you. Sorry to disappoint, but you're barking up the wrong tree. Never said I was anti-abortion. In fact, I didn't use the word abortion one way or the other. Which makes it a bit curious that you leapt to that conclusion. But I'll play. I expect very few people are "for" abortion since it is, after all, a rather drastic and invasive medical procedure. But in terms of supporting a woman's right to an abortion I certainly favor that right, particularly within the first three months of pregnancy. That said, how I personally view abortion as an issue is not related to the points I've made about the way the woman was treated by police in Birmingham. The issue there is one of freedom, particularly freedom of thought.

That said, how I personally view abortion as an issue is not related to the points I've made about the way the woman was treated by police in Birmingham. The issue there is one of freedom, particularly freedom of thought. On the video, she doesn't even say she is praying. As part of the initial questions she is asked if she is praying. She says " Err, I might be, in my head". The cop then mentions that there have been other days and instances that she is there, because she admits she is anti abortion. She will not leave voluntarily to go to the police station. there is sometimes no need to arrest. An arrest has to be justified. He was going through that as he knows he was being recorded. The video has succeeded here. Prayer has been jumped on by them, accepted by the OP in this thread on face value (hence the reason for posting) and accepted by you. At the end of the day, this order is clearly in place at this location because of issues with protesters in the past. Just standing there could be causing intimidation. How many other protesters are there at that time? How many have already been removed? We do not know, but that wouldn't suit the narrative. How many people has she spoken to prior to this to let them know her feelings as the patients or staff have entered the building? We don't know. the video is just a snap shot of that time. To know wouldn't suit their narrative either. But going back to praying. Anyone could use that defence. Hell, I could, but I do not have a cell of religiousness in my body. It could make a good video though to promote a cause.

Whenever there is a video to promote a cause without full facts I often think of this advert from the 80's.

Yes, wise words indeed, Willie.
Hmmmmm..... <contemplates for a moment, stroking chin> "Willie Nelson". Are you in fact the aforementioned Willie Nelson?

The Amazon driver who left a cardboard parcel outside the wrong house in the pouring rain. It got soaked. I had to go searching for it when I got the 'delivered' message and found that I didn't have it.
OTOH I contacted Amazon and complained (just making my mark in case the contents were ruined) and they not only insisted on replacing but gave me a credit against my next purchase!!
