I’ve just checked the banking app and we got ours a couple of days ago too. The big decision is what to spend it on! Put the electric/gas on for 3.8 seconds? We’ve just blown it all on a cup of tea.

Just a minor gripe...
I've just spent two hours traipsing round Staines searching for the last four snowmen. My back, knee and feet are definitely giving me gyp. Especially my knee.
And I only found three of the four!

Anyway, I've found out where the last one is. Funnily enough, it's somewhere I pass close by quite regularly - the Library. I hope it's BY the library, not IN it.

* I think the last time it was increased, it was actually worth something. But I could be wrong.
It has stayed at £10 since it was introduced in the 1970s. I was issuing the £10 Xmas bonus when I worked in what was then the DHSS in 1977 Back then yes it was a tidy sum given iirc a single pensioner got something like £22 a week so it probably paid for a decent Xmas dinner. a few cards and a couple of drinks etc but it has never been changed since I expect I will get mine in the next few days and I might just push the boat out a bit and get a small box of mince pies

British Gas again. They attempted to fit a smart meter last Tuesday if you recall but as both I and the previous engineer told them it can't be done. As they then followed it up with an email headed "Now your new smart meter is up and running" I gave them a call and was told it was being escalated to a manager and I would hear from them within 24 hours
Of course the only thing I have had in the week since is a nasty letter from their legal people about the bill I owe them (which now includes 3 months estimates of about £140 a month!) so I phoned them to say I can hardly come to an arrangement to pay my monthly bill plus something off the arrears when I still after 7+ months have zero idea what my actual monthly bill is supposed to be!
They put me back to British Gas where the person I spoke to said she couldn't help me because my complaint is with a senior manager who will get back to me in the next 24-48 hours!!!!
