Lucky to find, on arrival at work, that I've got a slow puncture in my rear tyre. Alternatives were finding it later when already flat or not making it all the way in, so putting it here rather than WGYG.

Andy. You do know you are an anorak? Silly question. Nothing wrong with having multiple pairs of boots! I have three, one pair that will take crampons, a lightweight pair and a pair that are like trainers. Go for it Andy. Aye, a B1 boot can feel a bit clumpy on the old railway but they make sense where it is boggy, loose or steep. I do about 25 hours of walking a week for work so boots tend to last me months rather than years like they used to when they were just for recreation. I know others here like good boots and I found them useful for photography before I had dogs or needed them for work.

I waited a long time for someone to come and see to my leaky air vent on a window and my draughty door. Today a lovely young man came and efficiently fixed the vent and proceeded to give the door the once over, adjust the hang, oil what needed to be oiled and stopped any draught. While he was at it, I pointed out the letterbox which was getting corrosion because of the salty air and he produced a replacement and replaced it. Efficiently done. Well pleased.

Took a DSLR out for the day at Powis Castle. Apart from having to remember to anticipate exposure compensation (been a bit spoiled by having over/under exposure detected in the EVF) it all went well. Anyway - they trimmed some trees back so the classic view of the castle is [almost] back again. Almost because the right hand side trees could go back a bit more. 274A1568.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Also I remember, years ago, an AP article on garden photography which contained a shot of this 274A1566.jpg by Pete, on Flickr although I think the bench was then [painted] white. All in all a lovely day in the sunshine, less wind than forecast and relatively few people getting in the way. I also rediscovered that Lightroom could be quite clever with panoramas. I'd taken two frames to be used as a joiner but on the computer I found a third, taken with a different focal length, but containing some elements of the scene. Lo and behold it stitched all three without a complaint, albeit with a lot of cropping. That the size reduction 13,300 pixels to 800 works always amazes me 274A1585-Pano.jpg by Pete, on Flickr So a cheerful day - good walk, lots of steps, nice weather and some reasonable (well good enough for me) memory pics.

Highlight of my day yesterday was watching an ashy miner bee digging a burrow. No photos as I had my long lens on, but it was fascinating to see.

I like my 70-300L (and before it my Tamron 70-300) on my 5DS for photographing decent sized insects. You get to stand off to avoid spooking them and still have a good image after cropping. The R7 has similar pixel density.

The R7 has similar pixel density. An ashy miner bee isn't much bigger than a dragonflies head and it was in amongst some quite dense grass. I love my 100-400L with it's short close focussing distance for photographing bigger and unobstructed insects, but it was never going to get a shot of the AMB.

I am cheerful today. Apparently there is a benefit to Brexit according to Richi.
“I introduced freeports – a Brexit benefit around the country attracting jobs and investment to lots of different places,” Sunak said.
“We cut VAT on sanitary products, we reformed the alcohol duties that mean this summer you will be able to get cheaper beer in pubs. These are all very tangible benefits of Brexit that I’ve already delivered.”
I can now get a cheap beer in the pub, and whilst there I'll get the wife to pop into the ladies to get me a cheap tampon from the machine. Woohoo.

Except we could have done all those in the EU.

... and we had freeports for years, but they were being phased out because they didn't work...
