Just scored some free walking boots... www.uktactical.com/product/aku-pilgrim-gtx-combat-brown-16413Army issued and only worn once so I'll get a chance to see what the boots the squaddies wear are like. They seem decent. The Salewa boots I got are so good I'm reserving them for challenging conditions rather than using them as my main boots. |

Tell us when you find the big nail sticking up through the footbed. Only worn once .... |

Good to know. I'm looking forward to testing them out in the woods and expect them to work fine too. They don't have some of the features of boots with higher RRPs but they don't look or feel cheap either. I was looking at getting some lower graded Salewa boots for more general use as the ones I got are basically 1 grade below those that take rigid crampons. A more regular hiking boot is more like 2 grades below and another grade below that more like trainers. Now I don't need to get another pair of less extreme boots....hopefully  . |

A single lady down the road asked me to park in her driveway while she is away so now my car is in her drive and her bedroom light is on. Wonder what the neighbours are thinking!

You do know you are an anorak? Silly question. Nothing wrong with having multiple pairs of boots! I have three, one pair that will take crampons, a lightweight pair and a pair that are like trainers. Go for it Andy. |
