What I Learned Today:
The focusing wheel on both the Contax IIa and IIIa is used for unlocking the lens at infinity.
Once the lens is released from that position, I can focus the lens by rotating the lens barrel and only use the focusing wheel for fine focus onto the subject. I read about Robert Capa, using his Contax II cameras on D-Day, but for the life of me I was never able to figure out how he focused his camera by using the focus wheel; because it was a slow and daunting process. Until I had an Eureka Moment, when I discovered that there was no harm to the camera after spending a few hours as I was searching online for the correct information.
About My Contax IIa:
As it turns out, that my Contax IIa is an early 1954 version with the Coloured Speed Dial.
Verdict:
With what I know now, I have gained a deeper appreciation for both of my Contax cameras and I am looking forward for better weather to shoot my first roll of film and wait for the end results.

A good week in the US if you are not a MAGA Republican! Not only has Nellie the elephant finally been indicted, hopefully the first of many, but Ron deSantis, fascist governor of Florida has got his comeuppance! After Disney expressed their disfavour over his 'Don't say gay' law DeSantis basically took over the part of the state that had been run by Disney since 1968, costing the residents a bucket load of additional expenses, previously met by Disney. Now it seems that Disney has screwed deSantis by signing a new deal with the old governors on their last day in office, giving Disney pretty much complete control, using 'The Royal Clause': "This Declaration shall continue in effect until twenty-one (21) years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, King of England living as of the date of this Declaration"
I, for one, am grinning from ear to ear. The old adage of 'Don't mess with Disney's lawyers' seems to hold true!  |

I avoided a lot of rigmarole this morning - we walked past the local pharmacy, and noticed they were offering the latest flu shot, and the new bivalent covid vaccine. Twenty minutes, and both are done.

My first day at the new job
I can't wipe the smile off my face
Journey was quick and I got a seat
Everyone was so friendly
Place is lovely
I'm sharing an office with someone who seems to be lovely although her tendency to make me lots of cups of tea means I am rather glad the toilet is dead opposite
They even have a designated smoking area rather than having to sneak off site and be furtive about it and the area is lovely a couple of seats and a water feature. In the summer I will probably pop out there for my lunch
The view from my office window looks out over a forest best view ever!
The work seems to be interesting so far the one thing I am dreading is after tomorrow the person I am replacing leaves and come Thursday I am going to be presenting cases to the bookings meeting but my boss is really nice
But they're already talking about when I go permanent
I think I may have just landed on my feet

I purchased the Leitz Viooh External Universal Finder (straight side version) for my Contax IIa, it features stops from 3.5cm to 13.5cm (with stops for 5cm, 8.5cm, 9cm and 13.5cm lenses).

Day two was also really good I've more or less been told subject to the paperwork and most of that's done I'll be getting a permanent contract soon

Well pleased.
Just had a visit from two lovely lads from Scottish Water - re blockages in the sewer pipes.
They said the plumber should have told me the whole run is the responsibility of Scottish Water. I feel like refusing to pay the plumber's bill now.
Next time I have to just phone SW and they will fix it!

I've just caught up with this week's episode of 'Wild Isles' and I think I've found my spirit animal. The water shrew could die if it doesn't eat for 3 hours. I totally understand.
