My mum has been at it again. My brother has been in Germany, got back today and called to see mum. She told him that she had to wear a strap on all night! She clearly hasn't a clue! Or maybe she's in on the joke now? Or maybe you are failing to take her literally?!

She clearly hasn't a clue! Or she has and she's enjoying the wind up!

Thought I posted it last night but then again due to the celebrations I was somewhat inebriated (for "somewhat" read "Piss*d as the proverbial newt")
As you may all know the Monday before last I interviewed for a job, I really liked the people and it's a much shorter commute
They came back and offered me a different job but having read the JD I liked that one
The plan was to start as a temp on £14 an hour, I told the agency that was a sticking point as it's really low. They went to the client and the client came back and said £16 an hour, which is a little less than I was getting but I will only be a temp for a few weeks before I switch to permanent so the next issue was what would my permanent salary be?
Came back yesterday with an offer of considerably more than I expected it's just short of £5k more than what I~ was getting in my last permanent job
Gave myself a mental round of applause when Chloe from the agency said "Is that okay?" and I managed to reply "That'll be acceptable" rather than "Whoppee! F**K YES!"
Okay when I told the manager at my current job that I was leaving on Friday her claws came out and she terminated my job yesterday afternoon claiming she thought I wasn't performing to the required standard because of a couple of mistakes that could have been avoided if someone had simply told me what they wanted me to do rather than leaving me to try and work it out!
So that means Friday week I am getting 2 days wages but I just have to get through that then get through when I switch from temp to perm but after that if nothing goes wrong I can well and truly get by every month and start tackling my overdraft

Almost exactly 20 years ago I volunteered for redundancy. I was only about 5 months from retirement anyway. The boss came back, very clearly worried, and said that they couldn't give me the full package because I was about to retire anyway. I'd spent most of my career negotiating things and, despite my emotions bubbling over with joy at the offer, I put on my game face and managed to better the offer by a little more than 15%. Boy was I happy. I was also happy because my offer to go saved a much younger family man who needed a job much more than I did.

Relieved if not actually cheerful. I just realised that it is the end of Q1 (save a day) and I just backed up my photos (back-up of back-up) and Lightroom catalogue and found that is the first time this year! Even allowing for distractions that is disgraceful - I seem to have accumulated 628 images so far this year which is a lot for me!
Edit: writing this post made me go back and check on 2022 - nothing since mid-October had been double backed-up so that is definitely a plus! All done now.

They aren't common cameras here in New Zealand - even the older II and III aren't common. There are more Kievs to be found here.

My first bumble bee visited my kitchen via the open back door this morning. Didn't stay long and flew off again.

Very nice indeed! One day my Contax III will reach the head of Ed Trzoska's queue, and I'll get the Contax experience. Until then...
