It doesn't get dark until stupid o/c in summer, and adding an hour to that is a real PITA. Besides which my sequence software runs on UTC like all pro astronomy software. I think you won't find a single astronomer who has a good word for BST. Plenty of bad words though. yes we can all fill the gaps in BST...

Just paid my Road Tax (yes I know!). RTBC - As the car is rapidly approaching 6 years old it was £258 instead of £600. My simple arithmetic recons it should have been even cheaper but hey ho. If I still had it my 95 Aero is going up to £775 a year, I hear.

I am in favour of BST all year. It is just after 4:30 and it is well dusk. Roll on March.

Jasmine has been competing in the British championships and got 7th in the UK for DMT (double mini trampoline which is like a triple jump but with gymnastic tricks). Not bad for only training one day a week

She was delighted to get into the final even although it meant competing against gymnasts performing more difficult routines that can score higher. They're on the long drive back from Derby now.

I love BST. I thrive on the long summer evenings, even when they don't necessarily feel like summer as I remember it. It used to be the that the switch in October left me feeling quite bereft and I'v had to work quite hard using CBT to get into a different mindset about it. Essentially, what I would really like is the financial independence to just unsticks and move to somewhere lighter/warmer in the winter like some migratory bird.

You'd have to switch hemispheres every six months, and to a suitable latitude. Nearer the equator, although warmer, the day/night split gets very sharp - one moment day and the next moment pitch black - almost no twilight.

Some years ago we spent a holiday camping in Africa. Essentially, we would get up with the sun and go to bed with the sun. There was an occasional 'late night' with a camp fire, but it very quickly seemed natural to keep daylight hours. We enjoyed it.

Dave would hate it, but we love the long summer evenings in Parts North still being able to see the Cuillins 30 miles away at 11.30 at night, and stumbling out of a bar in Lerwick at 1am into the twilight. Not sure I could handle the winter nights, though.

Thanks to the Bay of E, I have picked up a set of Walz filters for my Sonnar at a reasonable price without paying as much again for postage from the US or Japan. The yellow is a 42mm slip-on that I suspect has crept in from another set but if it fits I'll see if I can flog on my cheap Chinese 40.5mm screw-in.

So take the Yeti to the local garage, told me there were two possibilities, one easy to sort, the other a lot more involved. Up on the ramp, start investigating and taking the rear cluster apart.
Guess which one? correct, the trickier one. Dave couldn't do it for some time, but gave me the address of a guy in the village up the road.
"How much do I owe you Dave?" Nothing, it's all right."
Trying to imagine that response in a city.

I was thinking New Zealand for the winter and Shetland for the summer.
