OK so first female assent, that works. Congratulations on your first assent of the kitchen clock.
I don't think Kate gave any "assent".

Reform UK failing to gain a single seat in the latest round of council by-elections, despite old frog-face begging Tories to vote for them.in fact they've gained just one councillor from a potential 107 contested since the general election.

I have only just now realised the reform in their name doesn't relate to making 'constitutional' changes, it's simply saying they split up and reformed in a new party.

They managed to get 3 independent councillors "defecting" in Mansfield though...

I've been playing with my new toy...this all started a month ago, when we decided my wife needed a new phone - she'd been using a 20 year old Nokia, and the network support for that is being switched off next year. I've been using a Hinto Mobiwire - a 4G phone, and I suggested getting her one of those - $25 (12 pounds) at a local shop. She wasn't keen, and started looking at smartphones instead. I'd not looked at smartphones before - the size put me off...awkward to carry in a pocket. I did find a phone, though, of a size I liked - a Samsung S24. Too dear though, at $1400. We found a Samsung A15 for $255, which my wife bought - she has a handbag to carry it in. I found it an intriguing bit of kit. Last week, I found a Samsung S22 (an older model of the S24), new, for $555. I bought it.

Met mum's new man last night (don't feel I can call him a boyfriend as they are both north of 70). He seems very pleasant and they've actually known of each other for decades as they were at school together. Given how low she can get since dad died, this can only be a good thing.

RTBC - daylight gaslighting time has ended. Yep, back on GMT/ UTC. Can we get rid of British Stupid Time permanently?

My dad has a "friend", he still won't admit they're more than that, despite my mother passing away 17 years ago. It's quite sweet really as he dated Prudence as a teenager. She's also his brother's sister in law, so when they all go out together it looks like two sets of twins.

I prefer BST. I’d rather have the daylight at this time of year in the evenings, especially if out driving amongst those who haven’t drive in the dark for 7 months, doing 15mph everywhere.
What use is daylight to me at 6:30 am when I’m tucked up in bed?
