Cue a scramble in GP's surgeries in particular to check that their records are suitably sanitised - I understand that NFWL on a patient's record translates as "Normal - for West Lothian". www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz7j73vx9v3oHa! Mine probably says WRE - will refuse everything. The mother-out-law was furious to find that her record for her stay with a broken knee included the note "claims to not be in pain". As far as I can tell she couldn't, woman has the pain tolerance of a Centurion tank. It was the "claims" that got her - "As if I'd lie about it!!!"

Had a customer's dog staying with me last week while the owner was away on holiday. Collected the dog for a walk this morning and the owner tells me the dog has been so much calmer and well behaved since she came back

Especially when sharing a cell with a much bigger dog that has excellent communication skills.

1. Laptop collection arranged fairly painlessly, it has been collected & is on its way to be unshagged.
2. Window winder replaced. The two hardest bits were parsing the phrasing in the Haynes manual (in their defence, its different if you want to remove the window or the winder, but needs the same things done), and working out that the thing had been twisted to fold it into the box. Once I'd laid the two alongside each other it was pretty simple.
3. Looks as though I have a 10 minute phone interview, time yet to be confirmed as a first step. This is for a field service engineer, not sure about all the driving, but the rest sounds very much like me. I'm also going to prompt the guy who put me onto such roles as I've not heard back *again*, and lay on a bit of blackmail. His job would suit me better in terms of travel (covering Oxfordshire, rather than Ox-Cambs-London), but the other looks like working with a wider range of kit so less opportunity to get bored.

Has it been smoking something?

Has it been smoking something? No. It's been a few months since I've had any. Since the decline of forums I don't get commercial growers sending me their entire catalogue in exchange for pictures and paying single malt prices for tenants lager doesn't appeal.

Well, the phone interview was very odd, as far as I can ascertain they were asking if I'd read the job description, and I didn't really learn anything more. At least one question I was asked had the answer in the first paragraph of my cv... add to that that their to salary is around my minimum to consider it as anything other then a gap filler, and I'm a bit cheesed off. Meanwhile the other guy has heard nothing from his client all week. This also does not inspire confidence.

The trailer light connection on the Yeti has suddenly given up the ghost. Not a light in sight on two different trailers.
RTBC?
Rang the village garage to be told the lad who works there will be off next week, but the boss said never mind, bring it in 0900 Monday and he'll have a look. Oh, could I hang around to help him check whether they come on or not?
I really like living in a small village. Another advantage is he's quick, good and inexpensive, miles cheaper than any of the big boys around.

It's the little things that make me happy. Decided to do my mountaineering today since I felt fit, so clambered onto the kitchen table to reach up for the kitchen clock. Took it off the wall, wound it back an hour and tried to put it back. Found the screw had all but disappeared into the plasterboard. Took it out and after knocking on the wall found it was screwed into nothing. Since I wanted it in the same place, I found a screw and rawlplug that looked suitable. Climbed up again, knocked in the rawlplug, Put the new screw 3/4 the way in and rehung the clock. Success! As I said, it's the little things that make me pleased.

It would be great if you could log it as a first ascent but as you removed the clock it must have been the second
