told me I must be the only person who didn’t like football. You're not alone my entire interest in the game for years was if West Ham were at home or not because I live near the ground and it made the local pubs uninhabitable if they were apart from when the game was actually on Yesterday the Half Moon broke tradition and showed the FA cup final they made a big thing about it for weeks and when I popped in, I have never seen it so deserted! What's happened to The Bells?

What's happened to The Bells?
Mick
I had a major falling out with the manager who I didn't like anyway for what he and Uncle Les did to Aaron and got sick of being served by a certain barmaid who always made it clear she would like to spit in my drink if she could have gotten away with it. I looked in there a couple of weeks ago and realised it's too bloody bright in there and always was not to mention they put the prices up again so it's now £6.30 for an indifferent pint and for 20p more I can go to the Morgan Arms for a peach lager that is to die for! And if I just want to find a quiet corner my local Spoons has better beer and prices and food

£6.30 for a pint? That's ludicrous but it shows how long since I've been in a proper pub. That's not quite true. For reasons too complex to explain, I spend part of many Saturday mornings in Wetherspoons. Usually 'bottomless' coffee for £1.56. The last pint I bought, Ruddles, was less than £2.
I'm sure that my D-in-Law, who does 90% of the cooking in our house, feeds all five of us for about the price of your pint.

There are 2 pubs I use local to me, both of which are excellent well reviewed/award winning places, charge £4 for a pint of bitter.

It puts a different perspective on things when folk, who I know frequent pubs, claim to be hard up.
What do I know though? I drink very little and have no real experience. Folk raise their eyebrows when I declare one unit a week - but even that is probably an overestimate.

If 'spoons has better food than other places, how shite is their food? I sometimes, very occasionally , take a breakfast with my coffee. The 'traditional' breakfast consists of:
Fried egg, bacon, sausage, baked beans, two hash browns, slice of toast, Lurpak spreadable.
It costs £4.50 from memory. I can't pretend that it's the highest quality, especially the sausage, but it's OK for the price. Other breakfast providers in the area are probably twice the price.

£6.50ish for a decent pint is not unusual round here. Tennants lager is probably cheaper and if I went into Edinburgh for a pint of Hoegaarden I wouldn't be surprised if it was over a tenner these days.

I'm obviously a hipster, because when I pick a pub they usually serve beer in schooners not pints.
