I'll hold my celebrations until we find out the tune of and how broken the next record is. And what promises they won't be delivering on. Would be nice if they put the green part of the coalition in charge to can all the traffic generating schemes.

Agree, though it is unlikely to happen. She lost it as far as I'm concerned when she thought she could legislate her way to a winning place. I agree with the old philosophers that when a politician relies on legislation, they have lost the people's consent and support. Who knows what now? We are lost in a place with lost services no clear way forward and linked to the same down South. Now we have Starmer saying you either back me or leave the party. Well, stuff him! I can think of no-one to drag us out of this mess.

Quite liked this tweet I've just seen:
"The BBC is so woke now that if they tried to make Red Dwarf today half the main cast would be black and Holly would keep changing gender!"

Was sitting in my Pal's back garden this afternoon when his older daughter (mid thirties) came round to get her car keys having been using the drive for free parking while attending a meeting in Edinburgh. She looked at her fathers new haircut and said "You are looking old". Then turned to me and said "You are looking quite cute".

I thought Holly did change gender....there was a blond female then the dreary bloke (or the other way round). Kinda sounds like Deep Space Nine with the black captain and the Trills that go between male and female hosts.

After many years of looking I just saw a Firecrest on a bush within inches of my kitchen window. Great view for a long time.

Got my own back on the God-lovers today at the Co-op. A very old friend ended up behind me at the check-out. It was so nice to have a chat. The check-out lady didn't mind as it gave her a rest. The shop really wasn't busy, so we continued as my friend went through her purchases. We then wandered to the car park where we split, after me turning down an offer of a lift. So I was cheerful! It was nice.

We've been pleasantly surprised at how many of the temples/shrines we've been visiting here in Kyoto we've had almost, or totally, to ourselves. Fushimi Inari (known for its paths lined with a thousand torii gates) was busy, mostly with Chinese tourists, but nowhere near the levels I've seen on videos. Yesterday and today we've visited world heritage sites and have been marvelling at how few step off the "top 10" type lists and also questioning how those lists are curated.

We walked up Fushimi Inari in the summer and my god was it a hot and sweaty slog as can be seen by my T shirt. Urghh IIRC we went quite early in the morning leaving the girls in bed! sweaty in Japan by Nigel G, on Flickr
