SWMBO is highly amused that her car has failed its MOT with a broken headlamp leveling device. That's been broken for at least 18 of the 23 years she's had the thing! Plenty of other stuff to do but we should be back to one each on Monday. Attachment DeletedJust glue some lego to it I did eventually fix it properly...new part was about £50 and a couple of 10mm bolts IIRC. Got away without having to get the lights recalibrated.

Remove a large number of deer to help restore the forests. Volunteering to help eat them?

I am willing to eat sheep meat and venison. No need for rewilding with wolves and all that. Human beings are now the top predator.

An estimated 10,000 deer are killed annually on Scottish roads according to one source. Wonder if wolves ever killed that many? Perhaps if fresh growth on trees was much more widespread they would have less impact in localised areas of planting?

Perhaps not. There may have been a balance between wolves and deer. Scots could commercialise this natural organic resource properly. In England we are told to eat less meat for environment reasons. It would seem that perhaps we should eat more venison for environment reasons. Of course it can be a bit dry. No problem. Lard it with pig fat.

Apparently their favoured hunting ground is woodland margins....a bit like the clearings that occur in boggy woodland.

Scottish wildcats are only about 25% larger than a domestic cat. Edit - Last time I checked Mouse deer were not native to Scotland.

The ones I've seen are more like twice the size. Young deer can be pretty small and even a stupid pet labrador can catch them.
