Waverley at Bournemouth pier
I've shot the Waverley FROM Clacton pier The Waverley arrives at Clacton by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr Since I was due to boarding I wasn't able to get shots from further back Our club has had a few sessions shooting on the pier, but the only shot from these I have to hand is a macro of a tiny spider, with a completely black background.

Time March of the seasons. Taken on 12th August so seems about right. I hadn't looked properly before. I just had it marked as a sundial. I never concerned myself with sundial calibration. Years ago a colleague at work used to make sundials as a hobby. I understood that they can be made to be quite accurate if customised to a location but clearly there is a strong seasonal adjustment to be applied. On this seasonal one, from Paternoster Square in London, the shadow crosses sides at May/June and August/September and presumably it is calibrated for mid-day. Photo is timed at 13:44 but I've never been all that fussy about adjusting cameras for BST, or for not BST. IMG_0096.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
