I'm surprised it has taken as long as it has for someone to try and assassinate Trump. At least it sounds like the would be assassin was a Republican voter, but this is really going to fire up his supporters!

I was gobsmacked when I heard, yesterday, that you can now get ammunition from a vending machine in some states in the USA. |

One of the Republian senators/congressmen said there's no place for violence in politics...obviously in January 2021 the storming of the Capitol wasn't anything to do with politics...

For a long range hit like this I might be thinking bolt action 0.375" H&H magnum with a 'scope sight or even the superbly accurate 0.303" SMLE. |

For a long range hit like this I might be thinking bolt action 0.375" H&H magnum with a 'scope sight or even the superbly accurate 0.303" SMLE. According to the BBC the range was about 130 metres. As a cadet I have shot with the .303 Lee Enfield at 220 and 440 yards. We didn't get much practice and the rifles were fitted with standard sights. With a bit of practice I am almost certain that I could kill at 130 metres with one shot. A modern sniper rifle with scope would be better.
Trump was lucky that the shooter was incompetent. One person who is dead and two more who are seriously injured were unlucky.
