I kid you not. Look away now if you are still doing The Times crossword: tergiversator and the answer to another clue is the name of the language spoken in Ethiopia - which I seen to have forgotten already. So basically a synonym for politician?

It was a pig of a crossword! I haven't finished it yet but I'm going to have to cheat a few [more]. I like the online version that allows you to check the answer. i guessed 7 down given the other letters but what it has to do with the clue beyond the first word I don't know.

Sumo (wrestler) and pre (before). I think (but not sure) that crowds is just indicating the pre fits inside?

I do a crossword in a magazine and recently the person setting the question has changed, I’m nowhere close enough for getting on the same wavelength

I do a crossword in a magazine and recently the person setting the question has changed, I’m nowhere close enough for getting on the same wavelength In the mid 70s there were 3 named setters of The Scotsman's concise crossword. With two of them I generally did quite well. With the third I generally got nowhere. I have never got anywhere withe the I's cryptic crossword.

Same here - I also gave up on the National's. I'm definitely a Times wavelength crossworder, though I struggle on some answers, I still enjoy it.
