One of my few IR shots. img309 by Keith Hudson, on Flickr Earlier in the week, sorting out my diminishing film stocks, I found another roll of Efke 820 IR and one of Ilford SFX which are well outdated and should be used as soon as the trees get a bit more foliage.

240210-Enen Kennedy Gravestone Cardross-002 by Kath Polley, on Flickr Outside my flat is a commemorative 'needle' praising the efforts of Henry Bell, a Scottish engineer who helped to pioneer the development of the steamship and introduced the first successful passenger steamboat service in Europe with his paddlesteamer, The Comet. Initially a huge success running between Glasgow, Gourock and Helensburgh, where he lived, he tried running it between Oban and Fort William. It was shipwrecked near Oban in 1820. Undeterred, Bell commisioned Comet II. The Wikipedia account says: but, on 21 October 1825, she collided with the steamer Ayr off Kempock Point, Gourock. Comet II sank very quickly, killing 62 of the 80 passengers on board. After the loss of his second ship, Bell abandoned his work on steam navigation. This grave is in a local cemetary and is for one of those who perished that day. We think it says Enen Kennedy but the newspaper report of the time had him down as Evan.

Not quite on theme but interesting feather wise - this Wren had raised all the feathers around its neck making a kind of "ruff". At the time I thought it was shaking its head and what I had seen was motion blur but it is definitely not that. BV9R0006.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Feather Crown - amazingly I don't have a [digital] photo of a male displaying - I surely must have one on film. 274A5104.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Edit: sometime later : An ancient JPG from 2007 is the only photograph of a male that I have IMG_0005.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
